Personally I would want them to fit like my yellow gladiator sandals, so pretty close to the ankle. I don't like the look of jeans tucked into ankle booties very much on me, so I am not very worried about whether pants will fit. In fact, I think pants would look really weird tucked into true sandal booties (not like the ones you've shown but the ones with lots of straps that show bare skin.)

ETA: I would wear them with rolled up pants, or skirts+tights, or maybe under boot cuts. For all those things, I think a fitted ankle is better.

April, it really depends on the style of the bootie. Some look great when they are roomy around the ankle whereas others don't. It also depends on how high the bootie comes up your ankle AND the shape of your ankle. Sorry to sound obtuse :(

Peep toe booties and peep toe sandal booties are ALL THE RAGE for S/S 2013 judging by what's on the runways at NYFW at the moment.

April, that fit advice makes sense to me. I think Angie recently commented on a fit with just a bit of the pant tucked into the shoe or the pant tightly hugging the leg, and being inside the shoe entirely. It would look great with fitted things. As for imaginary lifestyle, I have no idea. I always salivate about these, but I haven't found a good way to make a peep toe shoe work for me into the fall. It is just too wet here in Portland in the fall, winter and spring to make peep toes feasible. These would certainly tempt the heck out of me, though! So cute!

I have no idea myself, April. I have yet to find an ankle boot that fits at all. But it also seems to me that if the fit is tight around the ankle, it would chafe. If you do buy them, I would recommend wearing them around the house to find out if there will be any rubbing after some wear, especially if you plan on wearing them with dresses.

Maybe these are more of a peep-toe bootie than a true sandal bootie. Still -- does anyone know whether the ankle is supposed to fit closely? On me, the fit was something like this picture (from shoehunting.com):

I'm sure I was among those who just thought sandal booties looked bizarre a couple of years back, but there I was in the Aerosoles store this morning, trying these on: http://www.aerosoles.com/eng/p...../soundtrac In purple, no less.

I may be shopping for an imaginary lifestyle, but in case I give in to that impulse on this one single solitary occasion, I need to know how these are supposed to fit at the ankle.

The SA said the shoe's ankle is meant to stand away from the anatomical ankle to allow room for skinny jeans or leggings. Is that correct?

How is the ankle of a sandal bootie supposed to fit?
