I think it would work well for pattern mixing, but i personally find prints with just 2 colors limiting. Like im obligated to pair it with one or the other. Maybe its just me though! You especially inspired me in July.   Angie -- I am still waiting on packages to arrive from Nordstroms.  I'll do try-ons when everything has arrived.  I am genuinely excited.   Julesegr -- I am definitely not a petite, but I always assumed you bought your "size" in petite.  So if I wear a medium, I would buy a MP.  Perhaps others will weigh in as well.   gryffin on "Ask Angie and Others: Proportions" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/ask-angie-and-others-proportions#post-1942559 Sun, 29 Jul 2018 16:53:42 +0000 gryffin 1942559@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ Sterling - I am thrilled you've found "your" blazer.  There is not piece of clothing more empowering and useful IMHO.  I do sincerely applaud you for ordering the matching skirt and pants.  I would, if possible, and I am fully aware of the YOUCHY expense,  buy all matching pieces possible.  If they don't work or fit, of course, back they go.  But a great suit, well it will see you through almost all life events.  Adding coordinating pieces, as Angie has so succinctly stated - I would go further to, after the necessary shopping fast to recover from jacket/all possible working pieces, the second stage is to find a second blazer which coordinates with the pieces from the first.  I would stay scope locked on halogen as their navy's might coordinate, a small navy weave, cream, plaid with same blue but subtle to work with the pinstripes.  Lace edged cami and heels for dress, assorted tops cream/cream&navy/navy to coordinate.  Dress or tube skirt solid to coordinate.  With the second blazer/pants/skirt/etc and a few other pieces this is your capsule wardrobe for everything!  Separate, together dress down, dress up.  Extra points for a single button, low stance, two button that can be worn open or as a blazer dress with cigarette, skinnies, leggings.  This will create maximum versatility with fewest pieces.  For inspiration check out VB website (she plays against type masculine/feminine, pattern/pinstripes)  Go back through UmmLila's posts in particular - she's particularly deft dressing down her blazers, Brooklyn - although she usually wears separates see pattern and proportion mixing with her blazers.  LisaP also is queen of pinstripes, look at her blazer posts also.  So excited for your Sterling!!  Enjoy your gorgeous jacket!! julesegr on "Ask Angie and Others: Proportions" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/ask-angie-and-others-proportions#post-1942538 Sun, 29 Jul 2018 15:18:05 +0000 julesegr 1942538@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ Angie -- I'm interested in trying this trend as a petite. Lisa -- I also ordered a pair of dark navy jeans.  I would love to find a knee length denim skirt, but that seems to be my HEWI.  I'll keep looking.   I did consider the double-breasted factor too.  When I was trying it on yesterday, this jacket looked good open.  It looks GREAT closed, but I don't see me wearing it that way while sitting at a desk.   Thank you, Roberta.  In my mind, I see this jacket coordinated with just-above-the-knee length skirts and slim cut, cigarette pants.  My problem is that I am in the middle of a wardrobe rebuild and my building blocks are either limited, missing, or the wrong color.  I boldly made the decision to have navy and black as my neutral colors in equal measure.  It does not feel right combining this jacket with my black.  It looks too mismatched (not purposeful).  I'll check the length of the sleeve too.  Good tip.   Bijou -- I considered sheath dresses!  I was shopping NAS for them yesterday evening but did not see anything that I liked enough to try.   Thanks, Windchime.  I am hoping that as I get comfortable with this jacket it will become a work horse for me.   Delurked, I am going to try the blazer on later this morning.  It was just too hot and humid yesterday to even consider doing try-ons.  Even it is hot and humid, I definitely want to get this done so that the jacket does not languish in my closet.   Thank you, Gryffin!!!!!!  I was so hoping you would weigh in.  ALL of your fabulous posts inspired me greatly.  I devoured every single word you wrote.  I stalked blazers religiously and this is the one that was most successful.  I truly love it because it is pinstripe and it fits me like a dream. Also, to make sure the blazer cuff hit you at the wrist bone. The idea was to have a masculine cut but not look you were wearing your dad's jacket. I love a pinstripe and this is gorgeous. I have a navy jacket with a pinstripe lining. I roll the cuffs so you can see the stripe and wear it with floral skirts that have a big hit of navy. I think your navy pants would be great. I thi k white would also work, and the right-for-you yellow or red. Or maybe just red shoes!
