Angie, I am really sorry I missed your response on Meredith's post - I did go and look back at it, but it must have been before you wrote it. My apologies.

I think I understand your point about casual fabrications and going for a structured look - which is definitely the kind of look I go for.

I am less certain about belts. I see them looking great on others but feel like on me, they look like a cord tried around a tree trunk and like I am adding bulk. But I can do some experimenting there, by all means.

Thanks again Angie

Anne, I started answering your question on Meredith's NAS blog post, so do go back and check. You are on the right track :)

Tailored clothing is ALWAYS in style. Period. Not too tight and not too loose. Classic and flop proof.

Form fitting clothing is extremely tight - think "bombshell looks" and very tight skinnies.

All you're really after Anne are tops, toppers, bottoms and dresses with structure. You can choose ANY trend and add structure to it (stay away from dropped crotch items). That might mean adding a belt to loosey goosey styles too :)

Sure these structured looks can be casual when they are in casual fabrications.

Does that make sense?

This is a repost, as I send it during the NAS*
1) Angie, you wrote recently
"But at the same time, form fitting clothing is also on trend"

When you have time, could you expand a little on what sort of trends this covers, and in particular if the trend is mainly in fitted office/dressy wear (as one of the comments said, and my brief survey of shops would tend to agree) or if it could include casual looks

2) I spend a lot of time last week at my Mum's looking back through through family photos from the early 90s and came to the conclusion that I really do look better in looks that are fitted in the torso. I couldn't believe how bad I looked in boxy clothes when I am sure I had a reasonable figure under there and how much better I looked in more fitted outfits So I have decided to go back to that look.
It won't be for a while (need to lose some weight) and won't be entirely as I will still waist surrender (just got given 2 WS dresses (one was that grey one I showed), for example) sometimes, but I think that is the direction I want to explore. Thus my question about how to do it fashionably.

Ideas I have had since I wrote this
1) bandage tops, like Meredith and Vicki wore
2) a current trend, like colourblocking, but in a fitted style
