I love nr 10-11- if they are comfy(block heel should be kind of) I would keep.and wear them for dressy with some wide leg pants and knee high nylons (black or tan)-not proper socks.

Fashintern, working in a refrigerated room for a year and a half totally warped my internal thermostat. I wander around in a tank top with temperatures around 50F and love it. If it's above 68 or so, I'm probably whining about being too hot.
I'm getting weirder as I get older LOL

In Florida there were many days when I thought it “should” be winter, but the temps were too warm for seriously warm clothing. People look for chances to wear their winter stuff, and pull it out already when temps are around 70. Don’t you have times like that too, when you want a “winter” look although the temps don’t warrant it? That’s when I can see you wearing the fuzzy boots for something other than work—but only if you can figure out arch support.

Jessikams, part of me wants to keep the colorful fuzzies just because they're so 'colorful caveman', but I'm struggling to think of when I would actually wear them since they don't leave much room for thick socks this winter

I recently bought my first pair of Keens, and they are crazy comfy and practical. Toe protection, arch support, wide widths, and they can be tossed in the dishwasher when dirty.

But for non work shoes, I adore the colorful fuzzies and the colorful brocade.

Just now seeing this, after the work shoe post. You spend a lot of time at work, but not your whole life. It really makes sense to have what you need there so you are less exhausted when you get home—sore feet lead to sore everywhere else, and you want to have energy to live your life!

For after work, keep the work-impractical things you love. Right now I’m working on finding ways to wear stuff that doesn’t fit my day-to-day. People scoff about buying clothes for a “fantasy lifestyle” but the way I see it, if I want to do xyz so much that I buy all the stuff for it but I never do it, the problem isn’t that I have the gear; the problem is that I don’t go. I can’t wait forever for that man to come teach me to tango! I know you’re tired after work, but once every few weeks might put spring in your step.

You have several pairs of Charles David shoes. Is that because you see them and think “oh, that’s a fancy classy brand—I should get them” or because their lasts really suit your feet? And what’s the problem with splitting wears? Is it lack of storage space?

ETA I see which you are keeping. Good choices. Tina Turner is way older than us, and wears otk boots. Does she have super sexy legs? Who knows, but it sure seems like it when she’s got those boots on! It’s probably too warm for them right now, but I want you to get the colorful ankle boots, find someplace fun to wear them before the end of the month and GO.

Late but agree with the general sentiment that uncomfortable must go, but comfortable, beloved but rarely worn may stay. Most of all agree with Angie that you need to invest in work shoes to make sure your feet, and back, stay happy.

Jenni, i think if I quit ordering online that would be the first thing to do to keep from winding up with uncomfortable shoes LOL. I see a shoe, and I think "it's leather, it's flat, it should do fine for work" and it just continues to prove to me that my first mistake is generally THINKING :-D! I know that cute comfortable shoes exist, I have tons of them for not-work from several different brands; I just need to find that happy medium for work, uber comfortable and just cute enough but not too precious because work is HARD on my clothes and shoes.

Cindy, how can you do your best to ensure in future that you don’t buy uncomfortable shoes? I know it’s not easy and in the past few years it has still happened to me a little bit but much less than it used to. I suppose it is being really PPP when ordering or trying on, and also no longer being tempted by wildly impractical beautiful shoes. I know shoes are your Kryptonite similar to me but we can resist!
I adore your faux fur ones. And your embroidered boots. And I love Skechers, hope yours work out for ages. I agree with Angie, nothing wrong with spending on your work shoes.

Cindy, I'm going to give you my thoughts before reading others.
My first run through:
Sell #'s 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 and maybe 12(you will have to decide if these work for you, today). You seem to already have shoes to fill in for these, so no shopping needed
Give #1
Keep #4 for really ugly days when the dog just wants to go forever
Keep #10 - happy feet!
Happy editing, only hurts for a little while.

Well, that was easy. Mostly, everyone seems to be in agreement with me. The 3 last pairs were indeed the ones I most hoped to keep. I do have REALLY good boots for work once it cools off some more (find), they're amazing for comfort AND I like the look of them. Sneakers/loafers are what I need for summer (which is our predominant weather pattern). I'll write up a post and get suggestions. The Skechers aren't great, because the memory foam gives out, but they solved the immediate problem until I can get some suggestions.

And yes, Angie, I need wide width shoes. I have quite a number of wide width shoes, and NONE of those are going anywhere. Thanks to Walking Cradles and Naturalizer and Hush Puppies, I have comfortable shoes that are super cute. I even have a pair of Ariat cowgirl boots in wide width, with my preferred X-toe (elongated, snipped toe box). I'll get working on that post to get recommendations for summer work shoes.

I want to reinforce two thoughts above. Shop for and buy only comfortable shoes. Spend money on work shoes/boots that will last (sturdy, weather resistant, supportive, etc.). When you find those shoes, you will get many, many wears from them and your feet and body will feel better after a hard day at work. Treat yourself to proper work shoes or boots. You deserve them! Pretty party, going out shoes are a totally different topic but right now you need work shoes that work.

Happy feet are non-negotiable. Do not keep anything that is uncomfortable.

It sounds like you generally need wider shoes. Either a wide fit or a wide size.

My 2 cents:

Pass on #1 to #8

I am assuming that #3 is uncomfortable and too narrow, although you didn't mention it?

Since #5 are not comfortable, I don't see the point.

#8 is a bad fit.

Keep #9 to #12 since they are not uncomfortable.

My dear Cindy, I'm with Phoebe on re-evaluating your dislike to spending money on work shoes. That's THE most important thing to do, in my opinion. You have to look after your feet at work in order to be able to keep on wearing all sorts of other shoes - and enjoy life!

Put together a separate post on your needs, and lets het help you figure that out

But I hope you will reexamine your aversion to spending money on work clothes when you're spending so many minutes of your life wearing them.Is there really no shoe of quality that is comfortable, sturdy, and cleanable?

Oh shoes-I love you...but sometimes you don’t love me back.
Cindy, here is my take on your shoe edit
12 & 11. Keep them, they are so fun. Even if you only wear them once or twice.
10. Yes the print is gorgeous.
9. Holding zone for when your other booties wear out.
8. Donate- I agree the fit is off.
7. Holding zone because you love them.
6. Donate- uncomfortable and unrealistic
5. Again so fun, but probably more useful for someone else
4. Look like the end of their lifecycle but if you can get them rehabbed, keep
3. Keep- they are so beautiful
And you might have occasion to wear them in the future
2. Donate- uncomfortable is a hard no here
1. Same as above
I commend your courage. I did a shoe edit at the beginning of the summer and it was painful.

I'd keep the fur boots that make you laugh and the pretty ones in #10-11. I'm unable to wear heels so I can't give advise on any shoes that have heels higher than 2" or so .
I'm doing ECCO most of the time. If there is a factory shoe store nearby - maybe visit it ( some less pricy options ).
Ditto on what @Chris987 said about Sketchers - it's far from perfect shoe in terms of support and long working hours. It works better with insoles but then you'll need thicker ones for more padding.

It sounds like you need a pair of Crocs for work, something you can power wash or at least hose down. When it gets cold they do have fleece lined ones or you can wear socks with them. I would keep anything you might wear in future or is comfortable. When buying shoes, maybe you should size up or get a wide to allow for inserts.

Oh and maybe keep the 3D pumps for special occassions. Furry boots, like the ones pictured, are hecticly impractical IRL.

I haven't tried to pick the winners but will contribute that there are mail away shoe repair options. Also, I'm 72 and it wouldn't stop me from wearing over the knee boots if I felt like it. Certainly would cover over any age-related skin appearance imperfections like tone, crepiness, spider veins, eh.

Keep the Nine West because you like them and they are not uncomfortable. I like to split wears, my feet like it too. Even my most comfy shoes start hurting if I wear them all the time. As for #11 I would repair a boot that is comfy and I like (I actually did last winter). All of the others seem to have fit issues, I am guilty of hanging on to shoes like this with the idea I will only wear them for short periods - I always regret it. My take on over the knee boots, I prefer them with a flat heel to stay out of Pretty Woman territory but I don't own any.

I don't have anything to offer about your existing shoe collection, but have a different suggestion. Maybe you should buy ONE pair of sneaker type shoes for work that are more supportive than Skechers, and/or try an added insole for arch support etc.. Sketchers are all pretty soft fabric (I think) so they don't really support the whole foot all that well. I'm talking about shoes that are defined as "comfort shoes" and no they are not all ugly. Many are pricey but not all of them are. Or consider the Dansko clogs that so many doctors, nurses, & cooks (people on their feet all day) swear by. If you can get your feet happy all day long at work, then it might be easier to wear the prettier ones when you want to.

I would pass on any of them that are painful, pinchy, or otherwise uncomfortable. Find a comfy replacement for your well-loved Bates boots. You can't live up to your Apocalyptic Angel moniker if your feet are covered in blisters...

My favourites are 10/11. They look fun, glamorous and arty, so I hope you keep them and get them repaired.

To my eye, ALL stilettos (not only yours) look very uncomfortable.

Suggestions for your future shoe shopping: (1) Instead of stilettos, try block heels and wedges, as they will give you more support and better balance. Moderate platforms might also be worth trying. (2) Your poor toes will likely thank you if you stop wearing very pointy shoes and replace them by footwear with round or at least almond shaped toes. You could also try shoes with narrow squared toes--they often look chic while being comfortable. (4) Look for shoes that either have good arch support or room for an insole.

You should edit all of those that you described as not comfortable, no arch support or too tight. I don’t even need to look at the photos, it doesn’t matter how they look. Life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes. They all seem too high for me, but you know your tolerance level better. I don’t have issues with splitting wears, especially for shoes. That will give your shoes a break, extend their life and provide change to your feet.
ETA - I don’t like fit in #8 - too much room in front of toes.
