Angie, I can certainly try lower heels. The top is not a problem either. The real question I have is whether they look like the pants we will see in the stores for next fall. Will they look current or out of date? Are the pants for next fall straight, flared, or both? And are my old pants wide enough?

Good job shopping your closet.

They look a little short with these shoes, and I'd like to see them with a shorter and welted top. Is that workable, Catnip?

Classic. Is there a seam allowance at the hem? Can you let them out by an inch or so? The length will make ALL the difference to how these come across, IMHO.

I agree with others that these are classic enough to be work regardless of what the current trends are.

Thanks all. These pants almost got purged several times, but I'm going try them with a lower heel.

Yeh, I think they look classic. Good quality and fabric -and are keepers. Of course I am not such a stikler about lengths as some-I think it is more about fit, the shoe, and wht pants are styled with.

I like them as well. I like Patrica's idea of road testing them. Make a few outfits with it and see how they go.

I think they're perfectly nice and flattering and don't look particularly on- or off-trend. Neutral to me, in other words. If you feel good in them, keep!

When I read the post on wide legged pants a week or so ago, I remembered I had some pants in the back of a closet that I haven't worn for at least ten years. I finally found them. There are two pairs, one black and one a dark navy, both made of a lovely, silky gabardine and fully lined. They look new, and amazingly I can still fit into them.

So the question is, are these pants enough like the ones in Angie's post that I can consider wearing them next fall? Or even now?

The pants have a straight cut. Starting just a few inches below the crotch they are perfectly straight all the way to the floor. The bottom opening is 19 inches. Somehow they look shorter in the pictures than in a mirror, and I think that may be because you can't see the break. Since the pants are not at all flared, they will never cover the tip of my shoes no matter how long.

In the pictures I am wearing the navy pair because I hoped they would show up better. I could wear them with shoes with a slightly lower heel if that would look better. When I am standing in bare feet, the back crease touches the floor. I made no effort to style the pants, and am wearing them with an old tee shirt.

So what do you think? Should I keep them or purge them? Thanks for any comments.
