I often cut those loops off because they tickle my skin. They often do prevent slippery tops with wide necklines from falling off hangers though. There is some method to the madness.

In India one often sees car seats and couches with the plastic still on them...while they are in use. For years. By large families of 3 or 4 generations....

I usually snip them them unless the garment is pretty heavy and stretchy. No room to dry folded
But I don't use hangers for knits anyway...fold over the clothes rail usually. And similarly I do fold knits to store so yeah, usually they are snipped fast.

The only trouble is when they are so close to a neckline or armhole as to leave scratchy or visible ends.

Say it sister! Sleeve tags, and sewn shut vent--I have seen this on men so many more times than women! Drives me bonkers. Do they leave the plastic on their lampshades as well?

Vent tacks are SUPPOSED to be removed. They are added during the sewing process so that the vent/pleat does not get crushed or distorted, the nearby seams lay flat and behave during construction, and so that the garment hangs properly until you take it home. In fact, I think we added them when I worked in a costume shop years ago--if a vented/pleated thing had been used, cleaned, and was going into long-term storage.

And they have been my fashion pet peeve for years.

I think it's funny to see people walking around with vent tacks in place. Same goes for manufacturing tags on sleeves. It's just one step above walking around with the price/garment tags still attached. Heck, I even take off the fake keyring/logo thingie on my handbags.

I can't imagine that it actually works for drying. It would just cause sweater nipples on your far off shoulders. Not workable at all! I cut them all off except the ones where they are clearly necessary to give a very heavy garment the structure that it needs to maintain its integrity (I have a sweater like that). Otherwise, off snip snip! (And I can't agree with you more about the wool tag and the aaaaargh vent tacks. That's my official YLF profile pet peeve. Slits and vents on skirts and jackets that are kept tacked closed. I don't know what people are thinking!!!)

I cut off the shirt loops ASAP too!! I dry flat - and use fuzzy hangers. I hate it when they are hanging out of your clothes too.

I usually keep the stitch in the back of my skirts because I usually forget

Yes I find them annoying and in fact just cut some off yesterday. I do have a couple of dresses that I keep them on because of the weight of the dress. Those loops keep that weight from causing the dress to permanently distort.

So, those little ribbon or plastic loops on the inside of tops or dresses. I detest them and cut them off as soon as I cut off the tags. I have even cut them off of others' outfits (with permission). I thought they were to keep clothes on the hanger (hey, just get fuzzy hangers!). But a friend insists that they are for hanging the garment up after washing so that it dries without hanger marks. I prefer to dry flat.
What say you? Does anyone else share my pet peeve? Or do I need to go back on coffee?

Other annoyances:
-the virgin wool label on a coat sleeve (PLEASE cut that off)
-the stitch that keeps your back pleat together (that's uncomfortable, snip it!!)
