I think the light color makes the bunching more of an issue. Sort if like the discussions on fit of the white or cream jeans. The more light- reflective, the more you notice any crease or wrinkle.

No, I think you are right about the length being too bunchy. A little I would get, but I see your poison too.

Thank you for the ideas!
Suz, the back waist is elastic in a casing and I had it taken up so the pants would ride higher, both for length and it puts the hio fullness more st the right place. thought i would be okay with the remaining length. Any higher up and I have stride length issues, not noticeable in front, but in back.
Angie, maybe I'm overreacting. I could try wearing them out in a low- risk situation and try again. But, you can't exactly SEE what you look like, in motion and such. So I know enough to know I'm concerned, but don't have the perfect visuals.
I guess I haven't thought about very drastic things like replacing the zipper.

Do you think the unzipped over flats thing looks dumb?

I have these pants, but they fit differently at the ankle. Either my legs are longer or my pants are shorter. I like their volume on you, but I understand that the extra around the ankle might not appeal.

I also hope a seamstress like Diane weighs in- I was wondering if the ankle cuff could be removed (along with some excess length) and then the cuff sewn back on. I can't remember if the zipper goes past the ribbed cuff as weather has kept me from wearing them lately. I like the way the top of the pants fits you. Hope you find something that works for you.

I think it's just a question of bringing them up an inch or two. You do want them to pool some. It's just that you don't wear heels.

Of course, if they are driving you nuts, I can think of somebody who would be happy to take them off your hands.....

Personally, I think they look very fashionable and trendy.

The only alterations solution I can think of is what Suz has suggested. Hope Diane G chimes in - her sewing skills are excellent.

Hmmm. I think I understand the problem. It would bother me, too.

I am wondering -- is the waist an elastic waist with a casing? Or how is it made?

Dear Angie and Fabbers, my trend-trying met an obstacle, and could use some rescuing.

Last summer I bought the EF gray silk cuffed tracky pants, which have not seen much wear since this cold winter came along.

Now thinking about spring, I have to admit that I also have ISSUES with these pants, and so they are about to be orphans if I can’t figure some things out.

I think they are too long for me. So, when worn with ankles zipped or nearly so, they really bunch up and make weird poufies along the calves. Pics 2-3 are examples, but they do different things, make funny angular bunches and so on. To me this is more than some scrunching or slouching--it looks weird. The bunching makes me feel like I am wearing... too-long pants.

You would think the zipper would help. But, since the zipper is on the side, it does not work well for unzipping. The pants hang up funny. Oh, the magic of the Leith track pant front ankle zipper, whose positioning let the pants slide over the vamp of shoe or the foot. Plus the Leiths were a better length to start with.

Last summer I wore the EF's mostly for date-night and similar so I could wear low-vamped high-for-me heels—wedges, woohoo *(photo 1 ). With the the low vamp and higher heel in back, just a bit of unzipping released some of the bunching. But, I only do that type of outfit very occasionally.

My new gray oxfords, which are a great color for these pants, don’t work at all.- (Pic 2)

I tried all my shoes and am showing what I think is the best shoe--a pointy-toe flat which is my lowest vamped flat.

Pic 3 is the flat with pants zipped. I don't like the bunching!

Pics 4-5 is the pointy toe flat,—shown about all the way unzipped so they look almost like little boot-cuts. My observation is that it is the low vamp that is key to the flow with the side zipper, not heel height alone,

Pic 6 is tucked into boots for a "storm-trooper" look, which isn't practical to keep looking that way.

Thoughts? Could I “own” the unzipped look and wear them sliding down over my flats to get some regular wears out of them, so as not to limit them to dressier occasions? "Hey there, yes, I know everyone wears track pants high show the ankles, but I’m UNIQUE and set my own trends."

Do you think I am overreacting to the length and bunching? I have a serious poison eye for it and do not feel comfortable. Can you think of some other solutions?

Thank you for any comments and suggestions !
