I'm going to jump on the rectangle bandwagon, actually. The waist : hip ratio doesn't sound strongly "hourglass" to me.

You have a strong shoulder line, too. While I don't think it tips you into "inverted triangle" territory, if this is something that you are self-conscious about, you could also borrow some tips/inspiration from ITs for de-emphasizing it.

Thank you to you all for your advice. Much appreciated! Really it is.
I shall do what Beth Ann has suggested...now it is to find the clothes out the washing machine :)
Thank you once again!

I agree with the others on hourglass with a secondary apple. And I concur --- set your arms free! You have great shoulders and I think sleeveless, with a wide shoulder band would be a great look. Arms don't have to be skinny to be seen!

I think it would be helpful to post a WIW of 3 or 4 of your favorite current outfits showing where you style is now, then adding a couple of inspiration photos of outfits that would fit in a more tropical lifestyle. I think we could use that "data" to make some more suggestions.

Hmm. Well, your measurements suggest hourglass/rectangle to me. But I'm struck by your long torso. I'm thinking A-line too, in any case. A-line skirts and crisp blouses of fine/thin material.

Hi Twiddles! I'm just going to go out on a limb and say maybe an hourglass/apple? Perhaps Angie will chime in. Your adventure to the tropics sounds so exciting! If I were dressing you, I'd have you try gauzy A-line or wrap dresses with a high waist or empire line. Please don't worry about too much about your arms! With youth on your side, your skin is beautiful, and you can wear a much barer sundress than many. You might be able to shed some of your inhibitions once you are situated in your new home and see others' baring their arms too. Have fun exploring your girly side! I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi All!
I am trying to figure out my body type and dressing to suit it. I have been a tomboy all my life and generally wear jeans and tops. But now that I am in my late 20's, I think it is time to change and dress like a lady.

I am leaving in 2 months to go live on a tropical island (humid) for 6 months and want to be able to dress like a girl and not be too hot. I am very conscience of my arms and my tummy. Where I don't even like being in a swimming costume.

So firstly, I need to discover my body type...please advise.

My Measurements are:
Bust: 43.8 inch
Waist: 39 inch
Hips: 44 inch
Height: 5 feet and 1.81102 inches

Here is a photo: http://s20.postimage.org/uxwioc3ot/tmp_share.jpg

Many thanks in advance for your help!
xxx
