I think you might have a lot of fun focusing on the 70s trend, which has a lot of elements. Here are a couple posts where Angie describes it.

http://youlookfab.com/2015/04/.....our-style/
http://youlookfab.com/2015/02/.....15-trends/

Some influences are more boho - bell sleeves, peasant tops, suede - but a lot are of the glam/tailored side: fitted button-down shirts, soft drapey blouses, midi skirts, knee-high boots, wrap dresses, and turtlenecks both solo and layered. This trend might give you a great starting point, and you can have fun by playing it up with accessories and shoe styles.

I lreally ike pencil skirts with drapey sleeved tops a lot. I'm open to fit and flare as long as the flare isn't too much. Just below the knee is perfect.

Boots with a just-below-knee length skirt or dress would look fab. Not sure if you like pencil skirts + nice drapey higher-necked, sleeved tops or sweaters, vs. some of the fit-and-flare type dresses or something.

Thanks ClaraT, I never heard of most of those sites. Can't wait to check 'em out.
rachylou, I'd definitely do boots with a skirt or dress. I don't like booties on my me. I feel like they cut my legs and prefer the look of riding boots. I own several beautiful pairs.

Thanks Angie, I'll check that out too. I'm in love with this forum!!

How hip can you go? Would waist-surrendering be too out there? Or for instance, could you do boots and sneakers with a dress?

Not Angie, but here is a link she has written about dressing if you are "pear-shaped":

https://youlookfab.com/2014/02.....type-2014/
Also, there are several blogs devoted to modest clothing:
http://downtowndemure.com/mode.....directory/
http://momomod.com
(etc. Google modest clothing blog)

Hope
this helps!

Hi,
This may be an unusual request. I've never signed on to any forum before. I love fashion and color but am struggling to look modest yet stylish as I age. I'm a 5'1" almost 46 yr. old pear. I only wear clothes that cover my collarbone, elbows and knees. (no pants of any sort. Just skirts and dresses.)
Usually a 10p/12/p works for me if the length can cover my knees. I like quality fabrics that don't pill. Any tips on work outfits and dressy evening clothes?

Thanks,
Adele
