Thanks for the update Ragster. If it's such a big tailoring job, then I think you're right in just saying goodbye to it and move on to the good stuff;-)

Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Hi ladies

After another look at my jacket last night I decided that, in all honesty, it doesn't work for me unless it were to go through a major tailoring overhaul. It is shapeless in the back, which in turn makes me shapeless and the neckline doesn't sit quite right on me either. So out it goes!

I may still post photos with a comparison look that acutally works for your comments, will try to get that sorted this weekend!

Hi Ragster, welcome to the forum! You're not waffling on, I think it's great that you already have a good feel of what works for you.

Your idea of wearing a longer top underneath is great too (many of us are doing that to create a 'longer line'), but I agree with Maya: it would be easier to give specific advice if we have a visual. Would you be comfortable posting a picture?

Also: I'm sure Angie will chime in with expert advice when she's back from her holiday.

Ragster, Angie will not be back until the 27th, but I'm pretty sure I know what she would say: post a picture! It's the best and most accurate way to get advice. Block your face out if you like but it's impossible to give accurate feedback without a visual. The jacket sounds super though.

Hi Angie

I am a large plus size apple/diamond/teapot shape, depending on which school of style you buy into. I am 5'7 and around a size 28. My size is most noticable from the side, as I'm more deep rather than very wide. The largest part of me is the bit between my bust and waist, I like to call this my donut. I also have a very unusual shaped bottom, with flat cheeks and a large, um, rump (the bit above the cheeks but below the waist).

I have had a style consultation and I know the rules for my shape and I do have a pretty good eye for these things (if I do say so myself). However, I have one jacket that I would love to wear, but I'm not sure if I can make it work. It is the length I'm unsure about. It is a slight swing style jacket, but the swing shape actually fits my shape like a regular cut. The top of it has a funky 60s mod look, it has one button about bust level and then falls open ending at about belly button level.

I know on me it's best to create visual length, I guess my question is can I do that with this jacket if I wear a long top under it and keep a monotone palette, or will the proportion of the jacket just add width to my width?

Sorry for waffling on, any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks
