Would it work if you pulled it up under your arms and wore it as a strapless dress? x

Oh I usually wear pencil skirts to work as I'm an hourglass. This was for the weekend...more a "fun" skirt.

Welcome to the forum!

If you can post a picture of you in the skirt, that would be great. I'm leaning towards you returning the skirt though. That's a lot of fabric for anyone, especailly when you're virtually petite. Is there is a reason that you prefer a maxi skirt to shorter styles? For one, I know that I'd prefer to see your lovely legs :0)

Hi! Yes, this is a difficult length. I am 5'10" and still shorter length looks better on me than this one.
Is this skirt pretty voluminous? I had a long wide skirt which my mom converts into a sundress now - it has enough fabric for a short sleeveless dress. You can try to pull it up over your chest to see how it looks. If it fits then it can be as simple as removing the belt, adding band and straps...
I am afraid that hemming it from the bottom will loose the fabric pattern and hemming from the top may be too much volume...

Angie might want to see a photo of you wearing it, but yes, this is a lot of fabric to carry off. Hard to do even if you have height on your side!

Hi An08 -- not Angie (don't I know it!), but I have a couple of thoughts for you. One is that yes, floor-length skirts are hard to pull off at any height. The other is that you might be able to hem the skirt from the top rather than the bottom.

What length were you thinking? Usually just below, at, or just above the knee are flattering lengths -- can this skirt lose that much fabric and still look okay?

Angie,

I bought this ankle/floor length summer skirt today. I'm just 5"4, hourglass and a size 8/10 (varies by brand). I was planning to wear it with a fitted white tank (untucked) to emphasize waistline - but a friend said it's a bad length for me as I'm short (and not stick thin). I do have access to a good seamstress but the skirt will look weird shortened as it's an ethnic Indian one. Any advice/damage control??
