That's been my experience too -- I haven't had to bare all (Nordies and VS). They measure you with a bra on, then bring you a bunch to try on. I haven't had it done in a lingerie shop, so I dunno if the protocol is different there.

Good to hear. If I had to bare all I'd refuse to have a fitting!

MC, when I went to Nordstrom they measured me with my bra on and then had me try on a couple bras. So the fitter saw me with my top off and bra on, but left the room when I changed bras. So I didn't need to bare all.

MC, It depends. I had a fitting in Nordstrom where they assessed my size with my bra on and then bought me a few sizes and reassessed it and got me new sizes. After that it was a matter of narrowing down the style. I also had a fitting in Intimacy in New York where I had to remove even the bra for the fitter to settle upon a size. I was fitted aeons ago in Macys where the fitter used a tape measure to figure out my size.

What's the process like? Do you bare all to the fitter?

They are usually free, as far as I know. Nordstrom is a good place to get one (I've gotten it done there before). I've heard mixed reviews about Victoria's Secret (they try to fit people into their limited range of sizes). A trusted lingerie speciality shop should get you a good fitting too.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I keep meaning to ask -- how much does a professional bra fitting usually cost? I've never had one and am sort of curious!

Welcome to the forum, Marydon!

How old is your daughter? The first thing she needs to do is have a professional bra fitting. Has she had one yet?

My daughter is 5'7" and weighs around 200 pounds. She has a very large bust, 40DD, and and hourglass figure. She tries to wear appropriate clothing, but is on a very limited budget. She was told in her evaluation that she needs to dress more appropriate. What should she look for?
