I own a pair of pants that are in between jeans and leggings (though the fabric is *much* more substantial than real leggings) and they have been one of the best purchases for me this season.

They are super comfy and, exactly like April describes, work great as a layering piece with tunics and longer tops, which is the main way for me to wear them. Very occasionally I'll wear them as 'real' jeans tucked into knee-high boots. Even then they look fine and I often get a lot of compliments on them. No one can tell they're not 'real' skinnies.

I do think the main point is to pick a pair that is not too flimsy, and also a clean dark wash to get the most flattering results.

Hee hee -- I also thought "jeggings" was just a typo. I am *so* ten minutes ago... :)

Have never seen these, but IMHO, super super snug jeans with lots of stretch do not look very flattering unless you have extremely skinny legs. Like, Mick Jagger legs. As Angie said, more rigid jeans give greater definition and help avoid the stuffed sausage look.

I'm thinking, though, that if you wore a dress over top (i.e., longer than a tunic) they might work, since most of the thigh would be hidden.

Yes! I have tried them on myself and on a few clients. They’re like SUPER skinny jeans in very stretchy cotton. Much prefer the look of rigid jeans. More definition.

However, there is another product on the market. Pukka nylon leggings that are made to look like denim. You pull them on like tights. Not so fab. They look like grainy grey leggings. Stay away.

Jeggings are a cross between jeans and leggings -- basically, denim leggings. Think really tight skinnies that look spray-painted on

If you have a modelesque figure and are young, you could probably pull off jeggings with cute, form-fitting t-shirts and blouses tucked in. Otherwise, I'd treat them as leggings and wear them with a tunic top or mini-dress that covers your rear.
