I recently bought a pair for cheap - wasn't sure how much I'd wear them. I've been wearing them with skinny jeans and leggings. Mine are a little loose so I'm not sure they're going to work as well with dresses or skirts. You can see them in some of my recent WIW posts (I would attach pics but I'm on my phone).

Una, it, looks as though the Clarks one I'm going to be trying are very much like the ones you already have so I'm encouraged. The baggy ones are going back I think.

You look good in your boots Elizabeth! Thanks for the vote of confidence.

Cheryle, I read Angie's blog on OTK's yesterday and it's great! Love the look of your navy boots.

Thanks for the encouragement Deb! I'll take a look at your outfits with the boots.

Ooh, glad you like the Clarks Astrid. Yes, I think a flat casual style will be easier for me to manage than a dressy heeled version.

I like the look of the Clarks! I think the suede and the low heels make them work in a casual way, I also think they have something like a natural minimalist vibe. Clarks boots used to be much too tight for me to do up in the past, so maybe they will be narrow enough for you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I think you can absolutely wear them. Shame these are to big, keep looking. I have a very similar pair that fit my legs well. They are leather back, suede front and are a very flat (1cm) heel. I wear theme with short tunics and leggings, mostly. Or my skinny black jeans.

I have a navy pair that are similar in style. I really enjoy them and wore them out last night to do errands. I pair them with faux leather jeggings most often.

ETA: I forgot to mention that I have smaller calves and these boots fit me quite well and I often have issues with boots being too wide in the leg and ankle.

I almost sent them back and then read this blog by Angie. When I tried them with low contrast, I was sold.

Dianne, I LOVE mine. Mine are more TO the knee than Over the knee, but the same idea. They really changed the way I dressed last year... although maybe that was partly the winter we had (never ending, tons of snow). They have an elastic panel in the back, so fit with tights and dresses, and also over skinny jeans or pants. I have the same ones with heels, and the flats are far more versatile. I say keep looking for the right pair, I think you'll enjoy them.

That is a possibility Sveta, but there is an awful lot of room in the boots that arrived today, so even jeans may not do the trick. I did kind of want the option of skirts too. However, I will hang back from returning them until the Clarks ones arrive to compare.

Thanks for the affirmation Destri. I'm 51, so kind of had that in the back of my mind. I know there must be a pair of OTK boots to suit my needs and style. I'm glad your'e enjoying yours.

Ooh, thanks for the great visuals Brooklyn! You look great in your boots.

Mine are flat with a stretchy back panel like your pic 4. The weather is warming here but I wore mine a lot during winter with dresses and skirts. I particularly liked them with looser drapey skirts (especially asymmetrical) and A line skirts. I have seen you in these types of skirts Diane so I am sure you could wear them. I prefer them with low contrast tights or leggings to fill the gap. I am personally not comfortable wearing them with higher contrast jeans ( I feel this draws too much attention to my thighs) but never say never. Here are a few pics to demonstrate - there are more in my wiws. You can see I wore them a lot! Also Cheryle, alaskagirl, Diana and Deborah have posted lots of great OTK looks.

Diane, I was like you . . . a bit unsure about trying OTK boots. I'm over 50 and I just didn't know about how I felt about them on me. I have tried them on the cheap (with relates to Angie's recent article) and I quite like them. I found a pair of Jessica Simpson low healed wedge OTK boots at the Rack for under $50 (I see they still have some at 6pm -- black and brown).. My legs are about the size of Angie's and these fit without bagging too much (they have the stretchy back like the Clarke's you have on order). To me, the OTK style amps up the tall boot look and I think you can rock them if you can find the right pair for you.

I'm thinking that my plaid ponte pants would be a great pairing with this type of boot and I may try a legging. I do fancy a thick tight and skirt though...No harm in trying I guess :)

Models often wear ill-fitting items, Darling Denise! Look at their pant lengths! But to your point - OTK boots fit better when worn over jeans because the fabric fills out the space.

Here you go, Diane. 2011, with sweet little precious Rosie:

I don't dislike the bigger fit. This is what models look like when they wear OTK boots.

Also they would look different with jeans or jeggings. I think I see them (on street style blogs/Pinterest) mostly with mini and knee length skirts, as well as with skinny jeans. I think you could wear this look but do think for a moment how often you would wear them. If it is still worth it to you, persevere in finding the right boot.

I have impractical pieces with a poor CPW but get so much enjoyment from wearing them that the high happiness factor trumps.

I have a 13 inch calf, narrow ankles and a small foot - and wore flat OTK boots for years. They were the SW 50/50s. You can too, Diane. You need to persevere with finding the right style though. They stayed up no problem.

I think you can wear this style very well but these boots are definitely too big for you Diane. By all means continue to look for the right ones if you fancy the style - why not/
On the other hand I am sure this style is not for me. I tried on some and always felt that my legs are "too much" in them so no personal experience here...

I've had a bit of a 'bee in my bonnet' (UK saying) lately about OTK boots. I was thinking of trying some out and so I ordered some which came today but they are a no go, I'm afraid. Not shaped enough and too wide around leg and calf.

I'm beginning to wonder if I am even being wise wanting to try some out, whether they would be right for me and suit my style. Anyhoo...I ended up ordering some dark grey Clarks ones today to try ...see pic #4.

I'm thinking that I need to go flatter in the heel for comfort and to avoid looking too Julia Roberts (Pretty Woman :)) lol. Also they would be a bit more casual and therefore easier to dress up IUKWIM. Am I on the right track? The Clarks ones have neoprene at the back for a snug-er fit. If you wear them what are you thoughts? Do you find a flat heel easier to style. Do they stay up if not stretchy? How might you style them?
