Those are an 11 out of 10. You've got really dainty ankles, and the brown straps on those gladiators seem to overwhelm them - also because they are dark and high contrasting. They look a little like slave chains (my apologies for the bad taste comparison). That said I do want to like them. Perhaps if they were all one light colour, they would look better to my eye. I realized I have a need for what I'm going to call rugged casual, or active casual. Things I can walk on unpaved surfaces with, sit on rocks in, go to the beach, etc. I do a lot of these things and am tired of resorting to flip flops and BF shorts. I want stuff for these real life situations that I like, not that I default to out of necessity. I too often wear my Birkenstocks (today) or flip flops and they don't feel fab at all. What gives me pause about these is the ankle fit. The last pic is my new python sandals for comparison, although I know it's not the best shot - sorry.
