I went to graduate school in my 30s, and there's no doubt in my mind that I got SO much more out of it than the newly-minted "adults" in my classes. My mum is already in her 70s. I moved up to be closer, and if I moved away to another state or something, well, it's hard to imagine her not coming with me. She came over every day until recently and sat with Lilypup and used the Internet. My family is like that I guess. My mom's whole family followed her out west from Maryland originally... Not just my grandparents but her brothers and their wives... Lol. Lots of articles written about it lately........The Mr and I moved in with my parents a few years ago, it started out as a temporary-6 month gig while we saved for our 1st house down payment....Then I started Grad School, and the Mr realized he needed to go back to school. My folks said "stay here until you are both finished" and then..poof! It was 3 1/2 years later! </p> <p>We had a small bedroom and an attached office--and put everything else in storage. It was tight quarters but worked. It was the childhood home I grew up in, so it became the subject of my thesis as well. Nice summer evenings were spent outside in the vineyard drinking cocktails &amp; watching the ferries head to and from Seattle...not too shabby. I did most all the cooking and my parents enjoyed it, mom in her 60s was tired of the kitchen. Many of our friends were jealous and could not even image spending a week living as adults with their parents. We had come from a 4 bedroom house &amp; we have lots of studio supplies and other "stuff" so after a while I was feeling the stress from the lack of space. </p> <p>But it was the best decision we ever made! We had wonderful times with my folks and we will always treasure that time together. They are now inching into their 70s and their health is rocky, so we enjoy every time we get to see them. But I'm gonna be that 40-yr-old living in mom's proverbial basement. Need to go back to school and do something different professionally (yes, that basically means it's time to become a full-fledged computer programmer, lol, stop messing about with tech writing). Me and Lilypuppo will be making the nursery suite our apartment ... It's as big as my city apartment and has TWO closets... So one step backwards, but a step up! Ahaha! I'm tempted to do up a mini kitchen to keep my diet coke from being contaminated by my mum's soy cheese... Anyways, I'm getting my custom closet back which is exciting... but you know, all that organization... that means a certain loss of space that could have been crammed with clothes... And I don't think I want to do the rolling clothes rack thing like I did as a teen... I'm wondering if I can make myself purge socks??? </p>
