But the mannequins often have no feet and yet wear shoes and some are headless and yet don hats...the clothes are pinned to give the customer an idea of the garment in 3D...

Hmm, I've never seen an unclothed mannequin that even remotely resembled an actual human being so I'm having trouble seeing the point of this article.

Is the writer advocating that every company ought to supply a unique mannequin that will fit a specific size in that company's clothing? If a retail outlet carried several lines, how would that work? I'm hoping that the author is not arguing for the reverse; if a company's actual clothes are to be re-worked and shaped so they are a better fit on the mannequins I currently see in the stores, I'm in big trouble!

If you've ever dressed a mannequin, you will understand why the mannequin has to be smaller than the clothing. I hate to make it that simple, but the models in the lookbook or on the website, or in the signage are also wearing altered clothing. If you expect to walk into a store and have things fit like they do on the mannequin, you will most likely be disappointed, since most of us are not the exact same size/shape as a mannequin.

Interesting read. Would be awesome if they would start using mannequins in their size small! No need to pin.

LOL, I thought this was going to be about Pinterest! ;)

Fun article! Even mannequins can't wear clothes off the rack, apparently!
