Good catch noticing how the spokesman was dodging defining their customer! That's interesting (and funny).

I was so excited when an AllSaints store opened in San Francisco. I'd shopped them online before and visited one US store in LA. But I've realized that their North America expansion goes along with a sort of mainstreaming of their target audience. (Also I suppose trends have just shifted away from their older Rick Owens-esque look). So I almost miss the days before it was here.

Haha. I loved that article from Diane G last week about the personas businesses use to define their customers. I find it really fascinating and actually think knowing that could help a lot in finding brands that suit. I wish they'd talk about it more, too, but I can see why they don't.

http://www.vancouversun.com/li.....story.html

I like AllSaints, though they're not as interesting as they used to be.

This is an interview with the brand's creative director, incoherently doing his best to not say who its target customer is, while repeating the phrase "industrial backdrop" about their aesthetic.

I am sure some brands resist stating who their target customers are because they don't want to scare off other potential customers, but I often wonder who brands and designers have in mind when they come up with a particular look, piece or even season.
