And, I think that plays into “the magic of diagonal lines.” The angle of the vneck is parallel to the angle of the cardigan bottom! I think that repeating the exact diagonal angles which are at roughly 45 degrees counterbalances the double downward movement of the longer cardigan and of the sweater. So I must admit I created these outfits at home playing around but did not actually wear them. I consider this a half success: I don’t think either outfit is very evocative of the painting but the second one made me put items together in a new way that I might actually wear some time. By the way the green trousers and camel sandels are brighter in person, I had bad lighting. I rediscovered a very old necklace from a crafts camp just to enhance the earthy feeling; now I’m thinking maybe it’s not completely unwearable for an adult ..? What do you guys think? </p>
