True confession: I ordered the Stedman last week in camel hair, in the cocoa sand color (<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.aritzia.com/us/en/product/the-stedman-coat/79351.html">https://www.aritzia.com/us/en/.....79351.html</a>), along with a different coat from Aritzia, the Wilfred long cocoon coat in rockwood green, a deep dark olive--one of my favorite colors (<a rel="nofollow" href="https://www.aritzia.com/us/en/product/the-cocoon-coat-long/69383.html?dwvar_69383_color=16979">https://www.aritzia.com/us/en/.....olor=16979</a>).</p> <p>The Stedman arrived looking like it had been rolled up in a ball and sat on, so that was a bummer. Hopefully yours will arrive looking polished and smooth! The color and fabric were lovely (although the nap was sort of mottled looking in a few places, because of the way the coat had been handled) and the fit was maybe 95% perfect--I didn't like the cut of the sleeves and how they were fit into the shoulders, so from the back there was this wrinkling thing happening near my upper biceps, more noticeable because of the light color of the fabric (and probably related to my broad square shoulders, I'm guessing, though from the front the sizing looked right). Overall, the sizing was on the nose (I ordered the L and I typically wear a L or XL on top, depending on shoulder fit and sleeve length).</p> <p>The Wilfred intrigued me because I love that color, and I love the high-necked collar. I ordered the XL to get ample sleeve length, and because the site said this coat was more fitted. It arrived looking smooth and well-cared for, and the fabric and color are beautiful. But it was too large through the body, from chest through hips (though the sleeve length was perfect!), and the pockets sort of gaped open in a way that displeased me.&nbsp;</p> <p>My long wool coat quest continues! I am crossing my fingers that the Stedman works for you!</p> <p>I *love* the shirt jacket and am tempted myself, but I already have one in fluffy off-white poly (cheap, from Urban Outfitters, purchases a few years ago) so I can't justify getting another one. But I am seduced by several of their plaids! I think the stedman looks great and it’s a truly perfect length for early fall through cold spring. Color is divine and do you not love the fabrication. The slouch is a lot of coat and will have a shorter season. I have the black everlane cocoon and the Pendleton Darby and this replaced 2 maxi coats but if I needed an all purpose coat I would have made the same choice. The color is amazing. Talk about making winter fun especially with your fab accessories!! Enjoy it. I haven't set foot in stores in ages, and had my first day off also in ages, so off to the mall I went. &nbsp;First off, Aritzia has the market locked down for teens and young adults: &nbsp;sweats of all kinds (nice ones, not crappy versions) , shirt jackets , faux leather etc - I admit to swooning a bit over the faux leather stuff. &nbsp;I wanted to try on the Babaton Slouch coat before ordering, and the very helpful young SA was able to find me new stock not yet on the floor in my size. They only bring in the camel and black - I'm looking for the dark foxfire &nbsp;brown . &nbsp;</p> <p>FYI - in case I'm not the only one who didn't notice this on their website- &nbsp;there is two distinct fabric choices in these coats: the recycled camel, and a regular wool blend. The wool blend is stiffer, and "different" (I'll say less luxe ) &nbsp;looking than the recycled camel hair. Both have that gorgeous heavy topstitching. &nbsp; I tried a size 2, and it was perfect. &nbsp;</p> <p>Anyway, I'm glad I tried it on before ordering, because although it's a stellar piece, &nbsp;I'm not sure I want that much coat. It was quite long on me (I'm 5'5") and while it would be fine with some boots for added height, I don't wear dresses or skirts anymore, and my lifestyle is more of the running around variety . &nbsp;A knee length coat is perfect for me, and looks better proportionately. &nbsp;I actually had the long coat ready to be ordered at the cash desk - debit machine in front of me ready to tap - and then backed out at the last minute.
