Another thing that usually is helpful is to either move the inner button over to tighten it or to add a button and buttonhole. Button on that wrong side of waistband where the original buttonhole is and buttonhole on the right side end of where the original button is.

You can make a simple buttonhole by hand. Just do an overcast or blanket stitch and
that's good enough.

You reminded me I have a pair of pants that's doing this and I fixed it just now with
a totally different method:

http://www.ehow.com/how_559389.....ay-up.html

My zipper was not metal and I didn't even get the pliers out. I just pressed down on
the bedstead. Stays up fine now.

I had the same problem with a pair of Abercrombis jeans, and found a product online called Zipperade. I took a chance on a 3 pack for like for $5, and was pleasantly suprised. Well worth the money. Check it out at http://www.zipperade.com

When I had this problem with a favorite pair of pants I had the zipper replaced by a tailor for about $10, but obviously for a lot of clothing this wouldn't be worthwhile. Hmm, it never occurred to me to check the brand of zippers but I haven't been buying much clothing in the last couple years. This must be one of the new scourges in lousy construction. sigh.

Anne, I don't think you need a receipt if you put it on your Kohls card. If you paid with another credit card, ask if they can use it for the return. Target will do that without a receipt as long as you have the card you charged it on, so maybe Kohls would too.

Glad I'm not alone! Those ideas AJ linked to are pretty creative, although it's just unacceptable to me to have to coddle a zipper in order for it to function as its intended to.

I'll look into returning it to Kohl's. I'm not sure I have the receipt anymore.

Love AJ's link to cures for zippers with a mind of their own. Maybe someone will start a trend making jeweled and beaded key rings for this purpose.

The good news is, since you bought it at Kohl's, you can easily take it back if you want to without them batting an eye. A zipper that won't stay up is a legitimate problem!

I'm loving their liberal return policy right now because many items just don't look as nice after washing as I would hope. I'm sure, however, because the policy is so lenient, it will eventually come to a close after some people abuse the heck out it. One of my friends admitted to me that she takes her clothes back there every season to exchange for new looking clothes. Boo.

I was gonna say that since it is a skirt and you won't be needing to zip and unzip all day, you can clip a safety pin right under the zipper pull to keep if from sliding down. My Kut bootcuts do that and obviously, I can't try that, but I might try one of the other ideas that AJ linked to.

hmm, the key ring holder is an intriguing idea. I could do the same thing with a hair rubber band... loop it through the hole of the zipper pull and then up around the button of the pants....
off to experiment!

I was so pleased with myself for finding a denim skirt for less than $20 at Kohl's. I washed it and am wearing it for the first time all day today.

AND THE ZIPPER KEEPS SLIDING DOWN.

I reeeeeeaaaaallllly hate it when this happens. Usually I look for YKK zippers, but alas, the pickings are slim when it comes to denim skirts in the stores, so I went with this one. I thought I had this item checked off my list and it's so frustrating that now it's back ON my list. Dangnabbit!!!

Rant over.
