I was already wearing the smallest size in both items. I took them both back today and got some other stuff instead that I think is much better.

I agree with the others, try a smaller size with the purple top. It needs pressing and maybe a long necklace (which weighs down the fabric and helps fit your form a bit better), but I like it. It looks great from the side and probably moves well. The sleeveless top either knotted or tucked looks great, and looks worth altering to solve the bra peeking problem.

I have noticed very deep armholes recently, even on tall models. They aren't wearing bras so it looks less like bad tailoring and more intentional. If it is a trend I am going to have to pass on it.

I'm not sure if this is an option with your bust, but Juniors sizing tends to not have the huge, low armhole issue in tops. . . now that I think about it, Ali & Kris is juniors that does woven tops, so they don't look teeny boppery. also the sleeveless racerback chiffon tank I got recently has decent armholes for regular ladies size - Wyatt is the brand and it was sold on Bluefly.

Sigh, I think they are both getting returned. I didn't much like the first one, and the coral one is just more trouble than its worth. I'm going to return them and look for some evil cap sleeved tops instead. I am just so beyond sick of this arm hole issue. I don't get what possesses designers to think that someone who wears an XS would need HUGE arm holes! I could understand if SOME tops were like that, but it's every single sleeveless top or dress I own!

Maya, I like it all! The wedges are just too cute for words. You look amazing in those shorts and I really like both tops. The fushia one is my favorite. Please keep! I think the sleeves are supposed to be loose and billowy so a low arm hole, which would be difficult to notice anyway, doesn't bother me on that one. The coral is cute both tied and tucked.

The first top doesn't do much for me at all. The second top style suits these shorts with sandals really well. Something else that might work well with these shorts and sandals is a whisper weight boyfriend cardi (not too long) over a blousy cami. I've seen these cardis in elbow length and short sleeved length if longsleeved is too much in your NY summer heat.

I like top #1, but want a longer bottom with them. It is very long in the back and doesn't show much (if any) shorts from the back view. The tied top, is super cute and you pull off the tied look well. I don't mind the tucked version but tied is a bit cheekier and so fun! I see the arm hole issue, if you can get that fixed I say keep the top too. Colors, for both tops are gorgeous on you. And those new sandals, well who doesn't like polka dots. They are so fun!

Killer shoes!! I am kind of meh about the blouses. Do you ever shop in the petite section? I know the selection is paltry on the best of days but it would resolve the gaping armpit issue.

I think the first one is a tab too big? But I love the color and the idea of a big, drapey top with these shorts. The shoes are so cute. I really like #2. I like the fabric and color, and I don't think it looks bad tied or tucked.

Outfit #2 looks great with ends either tied or tucked in. The balance looks good on you but from the side there is so much bra showing. I've heard of taking an extra dart at the front of the armhole towards the bust, like the top dart in the picture, so that the bra doesn't show and the shirt has a better shape at the bust, less extra gapping fabric. This might be a simple fix for the tailor. Something to check out anyway.

First a disclaimer - I am not an expert seamstress by any means, but it seams to me (get it? SEAMS? I amuse myself that if you take in the armholes under the arm (instead of at the shoulder), you will end up with two excess triangular pieces of fabric that you could then add to the blouse ends to make longer ties. Is this a possibility? 'Cuz the outfit (#2) is very adorable. OR (had another thought), what if you added a band of entirely different fabric to the shirt hem? Like something patterned with coral in it? It would only show when the shirt was worn untucked & loose, or if you folded the hem under to tie it, only the patterned tie ends would show...

I don't love the first top either. I know you don't mind surrendering the waistline, but it just looks too boxy. Love the color, though.

I really like the coral top, both knotted and tucked. You do not look boxy or frumpy with it tucked in. I had no idea knotted tops were back--this might mean that soon they will start selling the tops with the front tails that are specifically made for knotting. I had a ton of those when I was about 14.

Yet another round of loot ::ducks::

Last summer I lived in dresses, which meant I had virtually no summer tops. That's why I'm on a bit of a blousey rampage. I need something to wear with these new shorts!

I thought one of those asymmetrical tops that are so in right now would be a good idea, since they were cropped enough in the front to prevent me from looking pantsless. I tried this one but I'm not feeling too jazzed about it.

I also thought a front-knotted blouse would look cute...and it normally would. This one, though, is hard to tie because I don't have a lot of fabric at the ends, and if I try to unbutton it more to get more fabric, I end up with midriff exposure. I think it would only work with high-waisted things.

So finally I resorted to tucking, my arch nemesis. I feel boxy and frumpy though.

As usual, there is an appalling amount of fabric in the armholes. I am able to pull up at least 4 inches. This seems like an alteration I should figure out how to do myself. It's never going to go away. If I do that though, I definitely won't be able to front-knot it.

I just don't know. I finally found flattering shorts but finding tops for them still leaves me puzzled.

Oh, I also just picked up these polkadot wedges at the flea market a few minutes ago!
