Fun thread Aziraphale!

I'm with Marin and Mander -- not just team pants but team jeans. All the way. It just might have something to do with my rural lifestyle (ya think?). Even when I'm doing my Farm Fashionista thing, as Angie calls it, if I add jeans to the mix I feel just that much less dressed up thus more appropriate to my environment. However I do enjoy putting on one of my sheath dresses a few times a year.

My love of jeans has nothing to do with how I sit. I am not a floor sitter and have always considered myself something of a girly girl. It is all about my environment.

Definitely pants, or more accurately, jeans. I think it's a combination of feeling exposed in skirts and dresses and physical comfort and practicality. I always feel like I need an extra layer on my legs when I wear skirts, whether it's tights or leggings or those little bike shorts.

Either skirts or jeans for me. I always feel slightly dowdy in dress slacks, although they're a necessity in winter here.

Pants and skirts about equally, but dresses get a big nay as I find them hard to fit and flatter. Sheath dresses look best on me, but I find them way too constricting. I wear my pencil skirts fairly loose which of course means they tend to spin around. Umm, so maybe make that pants and specifically jeans, since I can put them on in the morning and then forget to check them.

Whoa! Pants, by a landslide. Thanks to everyone who replied!

I'm so sorry about the post-and-run. It was not intentional. We have had rotating teacher's strikes for the past three weeks, and just yesterday they voted for a full-scale strike starting next week -- the cacky, as they say, has hit the fan. Anyone with school-aged children has been doing some scrambling yesterday today. And since Friday (tomorrow) was the rotating strike day for our district, today is in fact the last day of the year for our kids. (Unless they province and the teacher's union can come to an agreement before the last day of school). I will be scarce for the next while!

Team trousers/jeans. When predominate styles change, I'll switch.

I have to move, so the skirts I love are long, generous, fluid, and worn with tights and boots. I do have a few casual, knee-length summer A-line skirts that I wear in the heat instead of shorts, but I can't seem to style them well enough want to wear them out on the street.

Well it looks like I'm in the minority but I prefer skirts. Not only to I find skirts more physically comfortable (even though I know that is not what you are asking), but I feel like they are more flattering on my body. I just bought some maxi skirts for summer and am totally loving the way I feel--carefree, comfy, almost like I'm wearing pajamas, but I'm wearing a lovely skirt! Win win win!

Benched! I'm psychologically comfortable in both. For me, it's all about the physical comfort. Like Sveta, I wear lots more trousers/ jeans in fall and winter, and lots more skirts/ dresses in warmer weather. But I can't believe, it took me until last fall to recognize this!! (And I am hardly a spring chicken). I think that actually proves that I'm psychologically comfortable in both. My mental comfort level prevented me from seeing that my physical comfort was actually going to dictate my wear patterns. I "like" them both equally -- but that doesn't mean I wear both equally. And because I live in a fall/ winter dominant climate, I do wear pants a lot more often overall.

Jeans, jeans, jeans. Can't just be pants but jeans made of true denim. No thin over elasticized, poly added poser fabric but, authentic jeans. I can be physically comfortable in a lot of other types of clothing. Feel powerful, playful, strong, elegant in pants/skirts/dresses/shorts but I feel most like me in jeans. I have always felt this way. Mom dressed me in the most adorable handmade dresses for school but as soon as I got home I pulled on a pair of my brothers hand me down jeans, Levi 501's later on, hippie cut offs in college, and workman jeans for my first natural resources jobs out of college.

And opposite to Diana, I love " tights season" as it's easier to wear more functional footwear with a skirt and opaque tights, and overall feel more action- oriented than decorative.

I don't feel particularly elegant/modest/feminine due to the bodycon aspect of pants, and I feel like I'm just blending in to look like the average American.

I'm equally comfortable in dresses and pants but grew up at a time that women just did not wear pants, even little girls. The only exception were thick snow pants worn under skirts when outside in frigid weather. BTW, we were never allowed to cross our legs. It was feet flat on the floor at all times (public school). What I didn't like about frocks then were the stiff itchy slips to hold the skirts out.

Hmmm...actually both, with a slight preference for my skirts. I do love skirts and dresses!

Definitely dresses and skirts for me! They're so much more physically comfortable, flattering, and easy to fit that it's bled over into psychological comfort.

On a deeper level, I'm not remotely tomboyish or action-oriented or briskly no-nonsense. I'll take a good book and a deck chair and something tasty to eat over anything that involves running around any day. So skirts and dresses just feel more right to me and less like I'm trying to be something I'm not.

That said, I hate feeling like my clothes are restricting my movement too. So I look for fabrics with give and things that generally don't feel fussy.

Sveta I get that, I'm also in a male-dominated tech environment and when I need a little power boost I wear skirts/dresses. I'm not one of the guys and don't need to be.

Heh lyn*, did we expect any other answer from our Queen Flare dress?! :-)
I think psychologically I am fine with both. I tend to wear pants more in the cold season (high five Diana on the tights thing!) but in summer I prefer dresses and skirts - and this is more about physical comport really.
I also work in a predominantly male environment and in a leadership position on a completely male team - and I get a certain kick from wearing dresses and skirts to work. It reminds me that I am confident and self-assured enough to care about blending in - if my work and accomplishments stand out from the rest why not the rest of me?
I guess I am a rebel by nature...
