The great thing is that I love denim and the variety of color and style available. Trying to transition to higher waists, but it is taking a lot more effort. I use my grey and black jeans more in fall and winter. A large part of it is wanting a warm/earthy colour in my outfits. Since most of my tops and toppers are black/white/blue (and I like it that way!) I'm getting my colour variety through pants. My two pairs of olive chinos and my rust crops have been heavy hitters this spring. I reach for my black jeans more than my blue ones, because I can do monochromatic black/white outfits with them, or pair them with red/burgundy tops. (I usually like red tops with blue denim, but it's feeling a bit too... crisp? Preppy? Not sure. Maybe later in the summer.) For whatever reason, it's all over black/white/blue outfits that are feeling stale. I'm also not wearing slim black ankle pants anymore. A few years ago, they felt like such an important staple! If I add more pants this year, I'd like them to be khaki or a warm bone/ivory (NOT crisp white, I'm thinking more dingy-capable, like Dickie's painter pants). Apparently, I have fully re-embraced un-crisp for myself, especially in terms of colour! It has been a month since I wore jeans already, and it’s only technically the first day of summer. And I *wish* I could wear jeans right now, but it reached 93 yesterday plus humidity. It’s a bit cooler today, and I have a casual event to attend tonight to which i would really prefer to wear jeans, but I’m afraid it will be warm enough that I’ll feel sweaty in them. And chinos, while lighter weight, don’t have the right vibe. So what is the choice, a skirt or dress? Meh. Sometimes that doesn’t feel rock’n’roll-ish enough for me. And I don’t look good enough in shorts to wear to an event (I’ll wear them out to run errands but not social events). This is my summer style struggle! There are times when jeans are just *right* but too darn hot. Does anyone else feel this way?
