Reading that list makes me realize that, while I have indeed been called a "perfectionist" over the years, this label only applies to very specific and limited areas in my life. According to this list, I am by inference a spontaneous, haphazard, "good-enough" type of person -- the polar opposite of a Penelope. I do straighten pictures, though, because, well why not? And there is definitely a "right" way to put the toiler paper roll on the dispenser (over). People who leave the loose end hanging under are just wrong. There might be a quarter of these items that I still hold to, but most are out of habit (the grocery list, adding completed items when I DO make a list, paper money). And I HAVE spent hours in the Container Store.  But I think I'm a lot more like shedev, a laid back perfectionist. I do like to be on time, my closet is color coded, and I do like all of my stuff to have a place. I'm more of a laid back perfectionist. My little bit of OCD is that I remove the clothing that others leave in the changing rooms at stores and hang them on the return rack. Just the room I use, not all of them. I am not perfectionistic about cleaning -- but certainly wish I was more that way. However, I am a perfectionist about so many other things: bagging my own groceries (in my own special totes and portable coolers) -- sorting "like with like"; arranging my shopping list by specific aisle layout for each store; not being late (arrive to airport 2-3 hours early for air travel); organizing closet by item type and colors; folding items like towels and undergarments in a specific manner (something I learned in the military); sorting the bills in my wallet by denomination -- all facing same way; "marrying" the ketchup bottles (something I picked up when I waitressed 40 years ago); and -- YES -- I straighten picture frames everywhere I go. I drive my husband CRAZY -- except for the being on time thing.
