IIRC, the Skinnies might have been in a lighter fabric than the Straights, and I don't remember them picking up lint. My legs, including calves, are pretty chunky so that's probably why the Straights work better for me than Joy. Skinnies look pretty terrible on me if I can even pull them over my legs, and boyfriends never really look truly loose on me even sized up.

I bought the Always Skinny and True Straights, both in black, at the same time about a year ago. I agree with Donna about the True Straights. Mine attracted lint from nowhere and seemed a little too wide, so felt frumpy compared to the skinnies. It got so I reached for the skinny pair unless I made myself wear the straights. They are a thick fabric unless that has changed. I've not yet pulled them out for fall a d may feel differently about them after getting used to boyfriends and sized up.

Thanks for the review, Donna. If they are heavy and warm, I don't think they'll work for me, as this is the problem with my current Martin skinnies too. Are the skinnies the same fabric as the straights?

I have the True Straights, and my daughter got the True Skinnies at the Gap Outlet so I don't know if they are/were a downscale version. The True Skinnies shrunk, but I don't know if it was due to careless laundering. I think I've only washed my True Straights a couple of times, but I haven't noticed any shrinkage. I find them a little stiff (enough to fold up the hem and have it stay), heavy, and warm so I don't wear them too much. I also need to wear a belt with them so they don't slide down, so that's another deterrent. They pick up lint like crazy, and that's mentioned in the reviews. Negatives aside, I really like the width which is 14.5" at the bottom in a 2P. I found them to run TTS.

Several of you mentioned the Gap always skinny black pants in my other thread as a potential replacement for my Martin skinnies, which look good but which are too hot for me. The always skinnies are no longer available but there are several that look similar on the website right now. They are all cotton/spandex, which is my requirement (poly is too hot and itchy). Has anyone tried them in person? The first 2 are cropped but because it's Gap, I can order talls to get them to be full length on me.
