Mens and womens are the same shoe. I have these exact ones, and I wear a men's 4 or women's 6. In fact, it says that right on the label under the tongue. Some stores (like zappos, for example) size them like that as well. I found them true to size - i.e., I usually wear a 6 and I ordered a women's 6, and they fit great. But Maya is right - they are on the narrow side.

I think I created the confusion by saying "unisex in their sizing." What I meant was, are men's Cons the same shoe as women's Cons (which is to say that strictly speaking, there are no "women's" Cons).

Hmm -- I hope the "go down a half size" rule does not apply to me, since I am seeing very few half sizes, even on sites with tons of these shoes...

Quite right, Maya. I understood the question another way - that a size 7 Converse is the same for both women AND men, which it isn’t. So you are spot on and my apologies for confusing the issue, April. I had a blonde moment.

Angie, are you sure about that? When I went to buy mine in-store, I had to ask for a 4.5 men's instead of a 6.5 women's. I think a 5 men's is definitely a 7 women's (besides, how many men wear a 4 or 5?).

I went up half a size myself. Cons are quite narrow, but if you have normal feet you probably won't have to do that.

They are! They are not unisex in their sizing and run half a size big, so size down.

Fun!

Are the Cons unisex in their sizing? And if so, is a mens' 5 equivalent to a women's 7? I have this idea that it is, but not sure if I made it up...
