I think the straight leg silhouette is fairly classic. You could do these with a crisp white shirt and go anywhere! Looks like a good fit and a fun option.

I think you look fabulous, slim pants will always have a place in the wardrobe. Particularly when it is flattering to your body type, as it is for you. I recently bought a pair of lace trousers and I'm in love with them. Just wore them the other night and received several compliments.

I think these are still on trend. Yes, the trend is moving towards slouchy, but I think you definitely have a lot of time before that happens.

These almost look straight leg to me versus skinny, and straight leg seldom goes out of style.

I think it is just fine to get something like this on sale. You are trying something new, and I completely understand dipping your toe in with a sale purchase!

I think these pants are pretty fun and lovely. I like #2 a lot... forget peoplestyle watch, PLUS if the pants shown were jeans that is a totally different animal than these beauties.

it is OKAY not to be "cutting edge." These are still current, fun, and hip. It's not everyone who will wear lace trousers, after all.

I think they look fantastic with both these shoe options.

Ok, enablers, I am leaning toward keeping.

They were on sale (shhh--that bad word)--which is good for me for lace pants because I won't get in as many wearings per year, and because they're a new fit for me (well, new this millenium!). Although it was more amazement that they fit that brought them home. But I'm hoping it will help me do some re-mixing and create some new outfit silhouettes and kind of experiment with several different "me" looks across a range of pant widths.

My concern was whether it's going backward. But I was hoping that since they're not fully leg-plastered skinny--I think some people would call them straight, which is almost funny to me- and since skinny and straight jeans are still going strong, that they will fit in.

I will need to play with some toppers and shoes that go in the direction I see for them--I want them to be part of my fun capsule, but not "twee" or prim. Not like serving canapes at a cocktail party in the 50's. May need YLF help there for sure!

First of all, I do not see the hip problems that you see. I see a nice slim line! I am not an expert on lengths but to my eye they look great on you! And what a fun find.

I really love those! I think I pineed a couple of lace pants - I think they are much more interesting than a lace skirt, and it is hard to find them in a cut that is not super wide (or worse, unlined). I vote keep all the way.

I happened upon a pair of lace straight leg trousers—kind of an experiment with a narrow leg pant that just turned out to fit through the hip area, which almost never happens.

I was having some fun, tags still on, playing with the volume over skinny silhouette, even though I am 5 years late to that party, not really having bought any skinny or really straight narrow jeans. Of course this look is too body-con through the hip for tucking or for slim tops, so if I wear this type of pant, it’s only with shirt or sweater out and long enough to go to low hip.

So I wondered—are these the dreaded Audrey Hepburn slacks ( Angie’s blog post) ? Is that a length or a fit thing? And does it matter , do they offer outfit possibilities, or are outdated right out of the box or not fab anyway?
The length is to the top of the foot but without scrunch. There’s maybe ¾-1/2 inch could be let out but not sure it’d make enough difference to risk altering the hem drape.

#1 and 2: I had fun trying with existing footwear--blue lizard ballet flats and with 3” wedge booties. Then I saw a photo in PeopleStyleWatch showing a similar pant/jeans with similar wedge boots as the “out” look vs the slouchy jeans “in” look (gotta hate that!) .

The booties are a way to use Angie’s formula for making short-ish pants have a longer leg line. I had some fun this year with these booties from TJ Maxx–I wasn’t looking for that kind of height but loved the silhouette and fit around the ankle and I can actually walk in them!--but the 3” puts me out of my comfort zone, both for real comfort and for not feeling like that kind of heel is “me”. So they show me possibilites but aren't practical for enough occasions.

I wasn’t “looking” for lace trousers—that would have to be limited to party, church, date-night—and the lace is shiny, not matte (#3 but it isn't "blue", that's the flash) and the style is not my perfect trouser for a super dressy capsule. But, could this be a way to experiment if it’s not too retro to begin with and I look like I'm channeling Bewitched without the physical attributes.

#4 is WIW for real to work, with my basic trouser pants—trying to update for now by outfitting with blouse and black patent oxfords.

Fire away! Comments welcome.
