Frye has way too many too-tall boots for those closer to 5' than 6' IMHO. You and I are exactly the same height, and I'm an IT also, and a 14 inch boot height is really best for me. I think these are 16' from my (far too detailed) research on Frye boots. I had a similar situation today, trying on boots with the same height. I'm 5'3''. I chose not to buy them after all because I didn't like how they flared a bit below the knee, making my legs and knees look wider. It is difficult to match this look with a skirt just above the knee, too. You should try them with a skirt before you make your final desicion. Maybe you can find a boot that fits more snugly around your calves, if it's not an inch lower or so?
