In the fall I purchased red velvet jeans and teal cords. They were fabulous colors for my wardrobe and went with all my neutrals (black, grey, white, cream, brown). As to your question about if you actually need black pants - I am wondering do you have summer tops that need to be paired with black bottoms? If so, then "yes" I'd say get yourself some black pants - but if those tops will go with your white bottoms, then I wouldn't necessarily get black pants.
