Oh, thanks Scarlet. Not a big fan of the first ones, but the second pair is lovely! Although they probably have too much heel for me.

Thanks Cciele! I think they might play well in my closet if the fit works out.

Thanks Lemonade!

Thanks JAileen! The Timberland boots I just returned because they were too tight were a lovely quality too. I can imagine how comfy they will be when it's cold.

Wow! One of my pairs of Timberland boots are exactly like that, only ankle high. Mine are waterproof and warm. I love them when it's cold. Now, if it will just get cold!!!

Thanks for your input, Scarlet! No, 36,5 is too small for me. I'm a 38 in most shoes, in some also a 37, but rarely. But thanks anyway for thinking about me!

I think these are worth a try--I voted "nay" as in not too gearish. By the way, you are not a 36.5 by any chance? I have some brown Geoxx riding boots that are too big on my calf... I was cleaning out my shoe collection last weekend.

I've not seen your other ones (the ones that would need stretching) but these look lovely to me! But then I like a slightly chunkier base and more 'casual' surface on boots myself, as opposed to the very glamourous sleek, patent-leather types with slender heels... so take my opinion with a pinch of salt there!

Thanks Carol! They salt (not sure if that's the right term?) here too and I had this problem with many of my shoes. My current black boots too. But we definitely don't have so much snow that I'd need heavy duty snow boots, not really. It was just cold enough the last few years to get some snow and ice for a few weeks, but not in large quantities were I live.

Thanks Ceit! No, they are only lace ups. I'm not used to doing laces anymore, but for some time I wore lace up boots only and got quite fast at it. And I really would wear them over tights in the morning and only take them off when I come home in the evening. I'm almost never going anywhere (besides sports) where I have to take my shoes off. You're probably right about the deeper snow, but we don't get so much that it would be an issue. And if we get some more they have to clear the sidewalks, so it's never too deep.

They're really cute and Ceit provides good input. I also have to say that if they're like the fuzzy kind of material you find on most Timberland boots/shoes, that they probably won't respond well to the rock salt that's pretty common in NYC slush (I don't know anywhere else, but I can tell you from experience about that). It ruins the fabric pretty fast, makes it crusty, and gives a whitish cast too.

I'm really not fond of the crusty fabric part.

But other than that, if it's like just a bit of snow and stuff, sure, they're fine. But for really heavy duty snow I'd go for a more plastic covering than this just for practical purposes.

Do they have a zip too? Doing laces up all the time from going in and out is really annoying. And loose laces always fall down into the slushy muck that comes off the boots and then you have soggy laces. Also, if you are in deeper snow, it will pack down in between the laces and tongue.

Signed,
Someone who bought boots like that a while ago and totally regretted it.

p.s. they are really cute, and the colour is great, but just offering my experience, although we probably get more snow than you do.

I'm almost decided on returning the other Timberland boots. I'm just not sure I want to try stretching and all and in the end it doesn't work out but I can't return them. I can only buy one pair of boots for winter and they should be it. Now I've come across these, they should be the same taupe color as the other ones (the are named the same) and I think the lace up style would solve the problem with the tightness of the calves. But are they too gearish?

I guess I don't need my new boots to be Timberland, but the one I've got here are so nice and sturdy and seem like the perfect boots for snow and ice.

Could you see me wearing these? Please be honest. If not I'll just keep looking.
