Tory Burch, Calvin Klein (dresses only), Ralph Lauren, Evan Picone, Tahari, and some Theory pieces fit me well.

DVF dresses always hit me in the wrong places....her wrap dresses just don't work for me. JCrew (not really considered ''designer") is also hit and miss with me. I can wear their easy-to-fit items (like button shirts and sweaters), but dresses, pants and jackets almost never fit right.

I don't have much experience with designer brands at all. I even don't know which are concidered designer brands. Of course I know the most famous ones like Prada, Chanel, DVF which are way out of my budget range...
Anyway from premium denim brands Paige fits me well but I did not have any luck with CH, 7FAM or True Religions. I have bought one Tahari sheath which fit me almost perfectly from the rack but i have not tried anything else of this brand.
I have very good luck with Danier leather brand: the fit is very good for me and the sleeves are long enough (rare occurence for me). Their leather jackets and coats fit me like a glove from the rack!

Cannot wear Poleci or anything from BR - love Calvin Klein and Theory. Isn't it better to have that knowledge before you get upset and try on

Surprisingly, Zara never ever fits me. Particularly tops. They are always too tight across the shoulders no matter how far I size up. Same with Marc Jacobs now that I think about it.

DVF always fits, same with Kate Spade (though she is vanity sized out the wazoo).

work: suzi chin, ralph lauren, evan picone, some jones new york, some nine west, j.crew, some adrianna papell, some ann taylor, merona from target

don't work: calvin klein (can't fill out top half), DVF (necklines too low, waist too low due to my short waist), banana republic (similar to DVF), soi and kyo (sf? proportions don't always work), taylor (runs small for my proportions)

thanks to marshall's and nordstrom rack i've had the opportunity to try on 'fancy brands' and discover that sometimes fancy does not = good fit for me. what a relief there are others out there that fit and look better!

Theory doesn't work for me either. Ferragamo shoes are always too narrow for me.

Oh, and St. John. I don't know how Angelina Jolie manages to look so hot in St. John.

Calvin Klein usually looks pretty good on me; but I find Theory looks terrible.

I tried on an Armani gown once; it looked terrible. LOL.

That's all the "designer" experience I've had.

DVF drives me crazy with her inconsistent sizing. It nearly killed me that I was too big for the largest size in these http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/170868 (read the item's measurements under size and fit).
I honestly have more trouble with shoes than clothing. So far I know I can't wear Jimmy Choo, Fendi, Derek Lam, Alaia. Miu Miu and Rag & Bone shoes depend on the style.

I honestly don't shop high end enough to know. I can say what brands work for me. Levi's always fit great. Guess coats are cut smaller than most and fit me well. Lately Old Navy is weird/low in the armpit on tops when they used to fit me fine years back.

I admire a number of designers but, when I try their items on, it is just so apparent that they were not made with me in mind. Whether it's their fit model, or their idea of proportions, I'm always left a little bit puzzled as to what the hype was about because I just look wrong in them.

A few designers come immediately to mind for me: Phillip Lim and Citizens of Humanity, for example. They just don't work on me.

On the other hand, Narciso Rodriguez and Eileen Fisher (yes! Eileen Fisher!) always look great.

What about you?
