Late to this, and the discussion is somewhat derailed, but I have always liked shoulder enhancements like puff sleeves and now sharp shoulders, but they don't look great on me, so I am avoiding them. Wide belts are not an option, either.
I actually really like the look of the muted mushroomy colors, but they don't work for me at all (and I tried in the past).

for those of you who would like to see russ crowe's legs, i think he sports a kilt in romper stomper, an ultraviolent aussie movie a la reservoir dogs.

at least i'm hoping i remember this correctly!

Again, it depends which look we are talking about. JL is always pretty (well, aside from a really unfortunate picture Inge sent me). But I like him best when he is less conventional. More grungy and more rockstar.

Oh, and just to put myself out there, here's someone who is not classically, conventionally or really probably at all handsome yet I find him attractive: Willem Defoe. There's just something about that guy!

I guess it comes down to how you are using "conventional". JL is pretty in the conventional sense, IMO. That doesn't mean -he- is conventional. (Not that I know jack about JL - I had to Google him to see who you were talking about.)

Kinda like Johnny Depp. Dude's pretty but he himself is anything but conventional.

Brad Pitt scares me. If I were walking down the street, and he was coming in the opposite direction- I would cross to the other side of the street. I'm not much for conventional pretty boys either, Maya.

I don't agree at all. JL has gone through so many looks (including some really awful ones). Anyway I know I don't like pretty boys because my choices are regularly the subject of mockery and teasing by friends. Which is fine by me--more for me!

And I tucked my shirt into my skirt waistband today....and it looked okay. It must have something to do with where the waistband sits (and jeans are harder than skirts and dress pants for some reason) .....will have to investigate this.

I'm artic about a Becks/Pitt love child. Then again I was Team Aniston.

I said I loved the super tight bandage dresses but my hips wouldn't...well they did. I tried one on at N.Rack this morning and I loved it. You did notice my hips but in a very va-va-voom kind of way. I wasn't able to take pictures and didn't buy the dress (the neckline was wrong) but I am now on a hunt for a great (and affordable) bandage dress and a place to wear it.

It was this dress in women's and shades of purple: http://www1.bloomingdales.com/.....sn_results

I can't do the strong shoulder thing, either! I already fight the feeling that I look like a football player! Thought I couldn't do leggings, but am warming up to that. I thought I was never destined to have a moto jacket, but found the perfect fit at the Rack this summer, dying to wear it!

I don't think I will ever be early to wear a trend, not enough confidence, I suppose, but seeing eveyone here post their pictures, helps me get the courage. Thank God for Angie and YLF!

Neither Becks nor Brad is really my type either (I'm not so into blonde men), but I stand by my initial statement- the Scottish lad in question was a definite looker. The accent and charm might have had something to do with it, though.

Angie, you are definitely not the only one left cold by the Beckham/Pitt idea. I find both of their faces completely uninteresting. I remember after seeing Brad Pitt for the first time in Thelma & Louise, I was shocked that he became such a matinee idol. I still don't get it.

Ugh, I don't like conventional pretty boys. I think everyone thought I was gay growing up because none of the loverboys of my teens (JTT, Andrew Keagan...those sorts of guys) did anything for me. I have never found Brad Pitt even remotely attractive. I just don't get it. Then again, I am very selective and a bit eccentric in my choices...

However, I do heartily enjoy the idea of men wearing skirts... I wish the Met would revive that exhibit. Sigh.

Julie I think if you find the most unkiltlike kilt you could get away with it. I really liked the Pringle ones for example.
Regarding the aviator jacket, I loved the Topshop you linked to me, but I hesitated and it's already sold out! I've been stalking several websites trying to find something similar. Maybe as it gets cooler they'll be more selection.

Marianna, you won the TJ Maxx competition with a "jeans tucked into boots" outfit. And that was by an impartial judge! You rock the look.

@ everyone, please TRY the trends you think you can't wear and lets try to make them wearable in some way. I'm not promising a slam dunk, but there are ways to make things work.

Am I the only one left cold at the thought of a Beckham/Pitt child?

Skinny jeans tucked into boots = stumpy legs for me. I know I should never say never, but for this I'd only do it 2 days after never.

Oh, Sally, you remnded me. I wish I could wear wide statement belts. Actually I just really wish I could wear any belts without having to consider every minor fluctuation in my weight and bloatiness throughout the day. I have to say I still don't fully embrace belts, 6 months after Angue hogtied me in one. I have to go into wearing them fully aware that I will not be comfortable at some point in the day, which usually means I leave them off.

I wish I could tuck my shirt in and wear a belt. I am quite short waisted and it looks awful, even though I exercise a lot and am not carrying a huge amount of weight. Have to always wear my shirts out.

Its not a trend I like now but I always wanted to pull off the muslin Stevie Nicks look when I was a teenager, but my ample bosom made me look like a voluptous milk maid and everything would hang from the shoulders and the chest.

I also dont really suit double breasted coats...but think they are lovely.

I want to wear platform high-heeled utility boots like these ones and stomp around in them all winter! Preferably with a wool sheath dress.

http://www.mytheresa.com/shop/.....2538.html#

But then everyone would stare at me even more.
