I recently read, I cannot remember where, that no watch has been fashionable for years. Cell phones took the watches place. Big watches are back in style.

I think, with watches, you can wear whatever you like. I don't know if oversize watches are on their way out or not, but I like them. I prefer a statement watch. I kind of feel like the world has moved away from its reliance on watches, actually. In this century, you only wear one because it pleases you -- not necessarily because you need to. Some people will argue with me here, and say they need to wear one at work so they can surreptitiously check the time (and glancing at your wrist is indeed less obvious than pulling out a phone), but the fact is that most people can get by without one -- and indeed, many of us do. So if you like watches, you wear one, and they can still be useful -- but they are no longer necessary. It's sort of like the "passing of the horse" once cars became commonplace. Horses didn't go away, but now the only people who keep them are the ones who WANT to.

So yes, I'm all for the statement watch. That's mainly what I see them as now anyway.

Both sizes are stylish. Whatever floats your boat is good.

Personally, I find small watches too classic for my style. They disappear and don't make a statement - and I want my watch to make a statement. I love my big watches and have no desire to wear smaller sizes despite my tiny 5 inch wrists. I am looking at getting the Apple watch too - BIG on my wee wrist.

It's funny, a few months ago, I started to wish I had a smaller, more delicate option in my watch collection, so I found a mixed-metal (silver and rose gold, my favorites) thin Skagen watch at Nordstrom Rack. I tend to reach for it for dressier occasions or when I want my jewelry to take more of a backseat in my style. I still also enjoy my big rose gold Michael Kors watch and have no intention of letting it go, trends or not. And my default watches are my two Philip Stein ones with interchangable straps -- they go with everything. Even though I can, in theory, look at my phone for the time, I like the extra touch a watch brings to an outfit. I can use it to pick up a color in the outfit, or add one more little bit of metallic shine.

Well, I hope not I enjoy larger watches the fit my features. Thanks to my daddy large hands so I need the scale to fit. I prefer more rugged looking watches. I find that most women's watches usually don't fit around my wrist. All of my watches have come from walmart and range between $9-14, I love a good watch.

They may be on the way out but I will continue to wear my oversized white Zodiac...I have worn it constantly for awhile and just adore the look...I can't really believe the oversize is a trend that will disappear but rather I see it as a classic look...

I like a mid size too. With a small wrist the oversized watches just looked goofy on me. The tiny ones don't have much appeal either, but never say never I guess.

Hmm, kind of like most things, I've always been a middle-of-the-road kind of person when it comes to watches. I do not like oversized watches and never have, regardless of fashion. Likewise, I despised the teeny-tiny faced watches that were popular for women three decades ago. I prefer a mid-sized watch face. They tend to look better on most people than either huge or tiny, and they are not just a fashion accessory, as one can actually read the face.

I admit I never really embraced the oversize watch look, bit I still see them everywhere. I love my Timex tank watch, to my eye it sidesteps the trend issue! If you are feeling drawn to the smaller styles, trust your gut!

I wear mostly gold tone BF size watches as they suit my very casual lifestyle (jeans most days) and have no plans to change but I do wear a dainty dress watch if I am wearing a dressy outfit like a cocktail dress etc.I love the bigger watches because the numbers are sooo much easier to see!

I love watches and have several. I tend to wear the same one except for very dressy, elegant occasions. My go to watch is a Bulova with a stainless steel and gold bracelet. The bracelet is 15mm or 5/8 inch wide. The face is 1.25 in x 1.5 in. That size feels right to me.

I have several that are much smaller and they feel lost on my wrist. I have small to medium wrists and hands but I tend to go for larger bracelets and rings. Not sure why.

I don't follow trends when it comes to jewellery. I have never worn mini sized rings, etc.

I'm not sure what the trends are leaning toward, but I've always liked the option of different watch sizes depending on my mood and outfit. For example, if I am wearing a jacket with fairly snug sleeves, a big watch doesn't fit under the sleeve so I go with a thin, more streamlined watch. If I'm wearing a minimal outfit without a lot of visual interest, a big watch can be a nice compliment to the look.

interesting…..i wear a watch based on the size of the numbers, they have to be big enough for me to be able to tell what time it is quickly so that it doesn't look like i'm clock watching during meetings at work.

I was never really crazy about oversized watches for women. I'm definitely not small or petite, and for the past thirty years I've worn a 26 mm ladies' Rolex, and I've always thought it was plenty big. I also have a retro Hamilton tank watch, which is a Little smaller than the Rolex. I think the more moderate size is more classic.
