For years I wore my pajamas to drop the kids off at school and figured, who cares? It's not like I ever get out of the car, right?

Then, one day we were running late and instead of putting the dog in the crate before we left, I had her come in the car with me to drop off the kids. Of course, once my youngest jumped out, the dog jumped out with him and I got to be the nutty mother in her pj's chasing a huge dog through the school yard of disapproving teachers and excited squealing kids.

If only I'd had on pajama jeans! ;)

I'm still trying to picture the 'I give up' dress, since I still think just about any dress looks better than sweats or pajamas.

BTW, my "end of civilization" standard is pajamas worn as streetwear. I have seen three women this week (adults!) in pajamas and Uggs, getting off the bus or in the mall. I mean to drop your kid at school without getting out of the car - MAYBE. But out and about, in flannel pants with sheep jumping over a fence? Not ironic in any context.

Okay, I'll take back my opinion and say I'd need to see them. I do have a bias against Coldwater Creek, though - I see new items from them at Value Village all the time (like, tags still on). The one shirt I bought from them was disappointing. But leave no retail stone unturned! Or comfy pants option.

I don't own knit jeans (if with jeans you mean only the indigo/denim kind of pants) but I own a pair of pants made of knit cotton, they feel like mid/heavy sweat pants BUT look like proper trousers, they have 5 pockets and a zipper (wich is just there for decoration, since they are so soft that you can just pull them on). I bought them because I wanted something super comfy to go to university...but I never wear them outside the house!
Yes, in theory they can be styled like "real" trousers but there's something off in the way they fit. They don't dig and look quite good on the back, but in front I can't explain exactly why but they don't look like "real" trousers. When I wear them I always feel like I'm leaving the house in gym clothes.

I have some of these from Coldwater Creek in the slim style and I love them. The fabric is amazing. Sort of a denim colored ponte knit but softer. I wear them in outfits instead of skinny jeans. And from experience, they are way more comfortable than skinny denim jeans. The fabric doesn't bag out and the styling is refined. I've never confessed to owning them since there seems to be a YLF bias against coldwater creek and I figured SOMEONE would call them pajama jeans. But this fabric is amazing. Yes, it looks like denim. But doesn't dig or bag like denim.

I have a friend, older middle aged woman but single and very sexy in a chipper up for anything way, who had on jeans
with an amazing fit. I'm not all that into perfect jeans but I asked her about them. Yup,
they were the pajama type jeans. I had to practically stick my face up against her leg to tell. They looked like very smooth, worn in jeans. They had that ultra soft almost sueded look that worn denim gets. All one color, though. No bagging anywhere. She confided that they were the Dream jeans from tv shopping.

I don't get why knit pants should signal the decline of civilization. Actually, I'm glad there have been so many improvements to the fabrics we can enjoy now. Just because a fabric is a knit, such as ponte, double knits, interlocks, etc. does not necessarily mean the styling will will be less refined.

Knits have a certain amount of built in stretch due to how the threads composing the fabric are joined. Woven fabrics, like good old fashioned denim don't have much stretch. Natural fibers, like wools and cottons, tend to bag out over time. Without the introduction of elastane, etc., none of us would be enjoying the stretchy skinny jeans so many favor now. We can get them off and on...and the stretchy material, elastane or whatever, helps the fabric recover its original shape...therefore, keeping the garment looking nice.

I'd rather see people walking around in these knit jeans, which at least strive towards a decent fit and tidiness as opposed to yoga pants or sweat pants.

I'd be more inclined to pick on the shoddy craftsmanship found in so many garments sold by mid-level and even higher end shops. Wool pants without lining? Doomed to bagging out and not draping as nicely over the figure. I could go on and on in this vein

Parsley, I'm interested to know what the fabric is like on the ones you have. Since I'm totally blind, I can't get a visual from the links posted. The ones I saw were in a store here in Canada, and while I don't know what they looked like, the texture of the fabric was identical to jogging pants. That would be a dealbreaker for me personally, because although they're undeniably soft and cozy, I would feel too frumpy with that material to ever get my confidence up. This is just my particularity, and I favour a more dressy style anyhow. But strictly out of curiosity I'm interested to know more about what these pants under discussion actually look like.

Are these jeans you speak basically jogging pants with styling elements of denim (like five pockets etc)? If so, hell yes we're in a decline! Can you imagine tha bagging issue? If I'm picturing the right thing, I actually laughed out loud when a salesperson handed me a pair to consider. she was totally baffled as to why Ii wouldn't want to wear anything so comfortable!
