I have made many aprons over the years. I usually make the kind you hate. But it would be very simple to size them up. I have several plain white cotton ones from Smart and Final. I’ve used them as a pattern, and then made the aprons out of cute fabric, or embroidered them. This wouldn’t help for your uniform apron, I realize. I bought a pattern for a more feminine apron at the request of a family member who has a larger chest. I also bought one of those Japanese aprons but still haven’t used it. It might be too nice.

I'm echoing Zaeobi here. I just ordered one similar to this from Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1.....7191a62311

Decided cotton in the Japanese style was more for me than linen. But I have two aprons (dude style, hardly any coverage up top), worn daily, and they're both boring variations on black. They do not get washed nearly often enough. It's time to branch out to prints in a new style!

Was just about to say I like my Studio Apron from Seasalt Cornwall, but TIL (Today I Learned) it's a Japanese style apron. And it's got pockets to boot!

PS: I know this wasn't the point but I always wondered why traditional aprons have barely any top coverage - I don't know about you, but I usually make more of a mess up top (in the torso/ arms area) than I do below. And don't get me started on half aprons lol!

I saw this apron on TV and it seems like it would be cut generously enough to solve your problem. Very pricey but I'm so tempted to get one for myself.

That sounds frustrating in the extreme. I have never encountered this problem because I do not have a substantial chest. I think Roberta's suggestion is brilliant -- maybe you can take an image to head office and they. can adapt the unifrom or permit adaptations.

Have you looked at the style called Japanese aprons? They have them on Amazon and other places. I have eyeballed them for the same reason you mentioned- they are wider at the top than most aprons. They don't tie, you have to put them on like a tank top. I haven't bought one yet, but I'm definitely thinking about it.

I have aprons at home, and an apron at work, and all have the same problem. They are a traditional cut, which means, I'm guessing, that they were normed on the bodies of male workers from the past centuries--butchers, painters, etc.

The cut of such apron, as I have shown below, works great for a flat chest, but is a nightmare for the female form. If you have a chest, the top fabric will slide back and forth across your breasts as each breast comes out the side and plays peek-a-boo.

I am of course, annoyed that this is my work uniform, and mentioned it in an anonymous survey.

I know I can easily find other types of aprons that work better for women...I just thought this was an interesting discussion point. Also, if you have any recs, great.
