Sassy, you probably already know this, but there is an Anthropologie in University Village here in Seattle. I actually like it better than the downtown store (bigger sale area) and you skip the downtown hassle.

I think it is HannahC here who had great luck with a Jcrew dress... was it the sophia? Fit her bust wonderfully. Only thing is, Jcrew petites are online only. Try on the regular in the store, consult the sales people about how the petite will fit in comparison before you order. I find that you usually have to size up for their petites.

Also, if you find the perfect dress that fits well on top, but is too big on the bottom and you look like a sack, then take it to the tailors!! This is so simple to fix! They would just take the sides in. I had that done for a matron-of-honor dress I once wore. It was a strapless empire waisted, full-length dress. I had to size up to accommodate my chest, but then I was swimming in the rest of it. I don't have much hips to speak of. I looked atrocious in it - I looked enormous and matronly!! The tailor ended up taking a full 10 inches off the width in the hip area all the way down to the ground. The dress - which was a style I never thought I could wear in a million years - ended up being quite lovely.

Thank you! J.Crew is now on my list of places to go. They might not have the wedding geared ones but I can at least try some on and get a feel for their fits. Ann Taylor (at least online) doesn't have a whole lot of solid color but their petites tend to fit me very well.
There is an Anthropologie near me in Seattle but I'm terrified of driving downtown, crazy traffic and all that! But I hunted down some Velvet dresses on Ebay. If anything, having pictures gives me a clearer idea of what I'm looking for!

Thank you, ladies

Have you looked at J. Crew yet? They have a large assortment of solid color dresses that I think would be appropriate for a wedding. Since your chest is very large, I would look for something with a deep v-neckline, and an A-line skirt (if some of these are out of your budget, just use them for ideas):

I would try a cotton knit dress, like the Velvet ones they sell at Anthropologie. Here's a link to one: http://tinyurl.com/mh5wyl

As someone with appley tendencies (big boobs, tend to put on weight in the belly first--at my normal size, I'm something like 37-29-36, 5'4" 125 lbs), I prefer a nipped in waist rather than an empire, since the empire under the boobs just makes me look pregnant, whereas a ruched midsection sort of conceals the belly chub while still making it clear that there's a shape there. This dress is also nice because the straps are wide enough that you can wear a bra. And I think the teal would be bright enough to qualify.

The best part about the Velvet dresses are that they are multiple layers of jersey, so you get a more substantial fabric that doesn't show lumps and bumps. I bought all of mine off ebay and I love them. Is there an anthro you can try?

Yes, I have... That's the post I went armed with to the store... I wrote everything down so I wouldn't forget...

Still on a hanger, its hard for me to tell what it is but I looked for details like ruching but I've no clue what an A-line looks like!

So, tomorrow it's Banana Republic and Nordstroms in Bellevue.

Seriously, I hate shopping so much. I try to follow the apple rules but I can't even seem to find what I'm looking for on the racks.
I've got a beach wedding in Mexico that I have to wear a bright, solid color dress to (per the bride).
I'm 5'1", 128lbs, shortwaisted, 34DDD bust. Most all my weight is in my midsection.
I tried on what felt like fifty million dresses yesterday and I left wanting to cry. It's got to be a cotton or lightweight blend because its gonna be like 87 degrees and not see-through since its sunny and I'm gonna be in the photos.
I seriously feel like I'm one huge pair of breasts in most of these dresses. If it's a dress with drape it drapes so far away from my body that I look like a sack from the side view because of them! Or if it fits everywhere else I'm spilling out the top.
Normally, I would just give up and stick to shorts and a t-shirt but I *have* to do this!
If only I wouldnt sweat to death in Spanx I could reign in my tummy some :P.
So what have you other apples been wearing for sundresses?
