Bijou - is it possible that you have nickel allergy too? I just stumbled upon some information that Fitbit may contain small amounts of nickel and that can cause reaction. But also some models of Apple watch too have nickel, like rose gold or space gray versions. Silver aluminum that I have and gold that you are thinking of seems fine.

Thank you all for the reviews and comments. For all the reasons Angie and others have mentioned, I am sure I would love an iWatch. My DS has a smart watch and I may try wearing his to see if I have a skin issue. I basically had to give away the Fitbit and still have a scar on my wrist from the allergic reaction to it, so I will need to proceed with caution.

I haven’t had any sensitivity issues with mine. I have had a silicone strap, and a Velcro strap from Apple, as well as a currently faux leather one from Casetify. I exercise a lot and find the band gets sweaty on the inside. But I wipe it down lightly.

I LOVE the following watch features:

date, time and day

watch alerts me when my phone is ringing (I never hear my phone)

watch alerts me to turn when I drive and am following directions on my phone

watch helps me find my phone!

I like to close my rings and track my activity

Thank you ladies. So glad to hear that for most, this is a great tool and not a gimmick. I always wear a watch, so having the additional functionality really appeals.

Kelly that is a good point about watch size, I don’t want to have to pull out reading glasses to see my watch as I am really hoping to get stuck into the fitness tracker and don’t want to be taking my reading glasses when out and about.

Angie, gold and white is a beautiful combination.

Jenn, that is a good point about being able to activate cellular in an emergency. I will have to see what the situation is in Australia.

I have a 3 (?) and wear it with one of two silicone straps. Love it , didn’t bother with the wifi capability and never have experienced skin sensitivity issues . I tried a metal band just for fun but it looked cheap and as super low -quality as it was. I appreciate mine for reading texts or emails when I’m on my feet at work and can’t be reading from a phone , and for fitness tracking .

I also have sensitive skin and have had no issue with my Watch (I have gold with a gold band). I LOVE IT TOO. Like you, I almost always have my phone, so I didn't activate the cellular data. My husband insisted I get one that was capable of cellular, though, because even if you don't activate the data, you'll still have access to emergency services without your phone, at least here in the US.

I've had my watch since November last year and LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! It's in perfect sync with my big iPhone. It also works well with my pearls. My favourite gadgets of all time. I LOVE soooo many of the features.

I have sensitive skin - no problem.

I haven't had any issues with mine. I have a 3. DD has the same watch and did get a rash from the band. She doesn't have any latex or rubber allergies that I know of so she stopped wearing it a couple of days and it cleared. It could have been heat rash but when I did some research I did see that some people do have reactions to the watch... YMMV.. The only drawback for me and the smaller face 3 is that I can barely read the numbers on the activity charts--actually I really can't unless I have my reading glasses on. I think I'd go for a bigger face if I was ever to replace. Other than that, I like it. It's a fun tool to have. The sound quality on the phone is pretty amazing. I think my activity tracker is broken though--it's discouraging at how little I walk in a day unless I really try to close that ring!

I love ❤️ my iwatch, I received it as a retirement gift from my colleagues. I would never have thought of getting one , but it is amazing!
i have the most sensitive skin of anyone I know, I have had no issues whatsoever with the watch. My watch came with a red band, but I have ordered a dozen or so knock off bands from amazon in a multitude of colours. Love to match my band and watch face to my outfit.
i really enjoy the fitness tracking an challenges. I took up cycling and like how the watch keeps track of distance and speed. Kind of motivates me to improve my times.
one of the best features is being able to answer calls with the watch, à la Dick Tracy. I usually leave my phone in my purse much to my daughters annoyance...no more missed calls.
you will have a lot of fun with this Bijou!

I have my iWatch almost 2 years and no issues at all. And I have terrible nickel allergy that makes my skin burn like someone pressed cigarette on my skin. When I had my nickel allergy test, test patch made such a deep burn that it had to be medically treated. So I am always worried when trying new metal pieces on my skin, but iWatch seems to be nickel free. I don’t know about other possible issues though.

I have been thinking of getting an Apple Watch as I know that having it would be useful and likely to get me exercising and walking more with the health data.

Any advice from current or former owners of an iWatch is greatly appreciated in terms of things you liked and disliked about the iWatch. I have an iPhone8, so will be able to sync them together.

One issue, that does concern me is has anyone experienced skin sensitivity and rashes from the watch face? I had a first generation Fitbit and could not wear it as it rubbed my skin raw under the watch face. I have very sensitive skin (prone to psoriasis) so it is not the Fitbit’s fault. I have never had an issue with other watches previously and was hoping that the iWatch is gentle on the skin.

I have my eye on a gold watch and will find picking a watch band tricky due to so many great options. I thought I would skip on the cellular data as I usually like to carry my phone with me at all times.
