I have the Series One, which I use for running, although it has built-in programs for outdoor OR indoor walking, running, or cycling, plus elliptical, and rowing. I love it: the running program reports on heartrate and distance (since it has a GPS), pace, etc. I've had it more than a year, and I can't justify the Series 2 yet. I'm really happy with it.

I thought the Series 2 was supposed to measure activity, not simply steps, to account for the population segment that does non-pedestrian forms of activity. Interesting.

I have had one for just a couple of weeks.
Personally, I don't find it particularly useful for fitness tracking, because it measures steps. My workouts consist primarily of Megaformer and spin, so the watch isn't useful for tracking. I do sometimes checkout my heart rate during spin - if I were really concerned about accuracy, I would wear a chestband. But if you are a walker or runner, it would probably be quite useful.
I do really like some features I didn't think I would at all care about, though. I don't miss texts and phone calls because my phone is in my purse or on the charging station. Also, I get calendar reminders and notices about how long it will take me to drive somewhere I have an appointment under current driving conditions. Plus, I somewhat prefer the look to my previous tracker which did not have changeable bands.

And it is better than my previous fitness tracker in one respect. That one used to buzz and tell me I needed to move - while I literally was dripping sweat onto the Megaformer. THAT was annoying!

I have the first one, and mostly use it for fitness tracking and texting purposes. If I had an excuse to get the 2nd series I would, but so far this one is holding up pretty well.

Does anyone own the Apple Watch Series 2?

I tried out a Fitbit Charge 2 last year, but returned it because of its lack of waterproof abilities, and the rashes it caused on my arm. I've been really tempted by the Series 2 watch as a fitness watch, and wonder how durable it is, and whether wearing one has made you increase your activity (for those with sedentary jobs).
