That’s interesting, Bijou, now that you mention this. That never occurred to me. I have metal allergies, notably with earrings. So far so good with the watch. My old favourite, the $39 Timex Easy Reader, was stainless steel. I can’t imagine what Fitbit is using. It says the Apple is aluminum.

Rachy, I am following your assessment of the iWatch with interest. I am interested in getting an iWatch but having tried a Fitbit and developing an allergic reaction to the metal used, fear I need to get a stainless steel iWatch, an expense I am not sure is worth it. I am still happy with my iPhone 8, so I am not into having the latest gagets!

I did have it set to an analog face until I figured out what ‘complications’ were (am I the only person who thinks that’s a hilarious name?). Now it’s a digital clock, since that leaves space for all my complications/readouts. Mainly, I wanted it for an easy way to see my blood sugar reading, dismiss CGM alerts, weather and sunset time (so important for walking the dog, lol). Oh and to see the time! So it’s doing all that now with the flick of the wrist (no button pushing, except to dismiss alerts). I’ve started recording the dog walk (don’t understand the pace units) and it’s been giving me calendar reminders. Failed at Apple Pay today at Office Depot, but then using a card also required a redo - their system is terrible. Package has just arrived, I’m hoping it’s my bands!

I definitely don't understand that decision, but that's mostly because I don't understand how an Apple watch works. Like, a phone you can poke and scroll--how do you operate such a tiny computer on your wrist? With your voice? That sounds like it would only work in certain environments.

That being said, I know watches in general have been a huge trend for a long time. My boyfriend has two without batteries, that he wears for style only. A young person at my work admitted she loves how they look, but she doesn't know how to read the hands.

You can always set your watch face to be similar to your plain Timex until you get used to it! I used mine to time my tea, control what I'm listening to on my iPhone, unlock my front door, check my messages, track my exercise, to supplement my Maps app on my iPhone when I'm on foot, to monitor heart rate, and to send and read Messages.

One tip -- don't buy a watch band with a magnetic closure.

I have a tendency of going low in the evening/night too. I think it might be the lack of stress!

Heretofore, my watch has been a plain, Arabic numeral Timex. A very discreet watch. The Apple Watch has much more impact. I have no theories yet on how to style it.

Oh man. Should I have waited a couple more days to go to the Apple Store? Lol, too late! I have 16 bands and 15 bumpers on the way. I never used to get the care package thing, but I’ve started doing that. These things feel more fragile to me than they used to. I ordered bumpers because the first thing that happened—I’m in the Target parking lot and I’m trying to wave a person to go because I was going to make a left and they wouldn’t go and I hit my new watch on my car window frame. Argh. Lol

When I bought my Apple Watch, the people at the Apple store measured my wrist and brought my selected stretchy band in a size that fit. If you buy a band online they usually come with instructions for how to remove links for a good fit. I also THINK that the mesh bands can usually just be pulled to the tightness you prefer, with the excess tail tucked under a holder thingie, (like a belt) but I’d verify this. love my watch. May I also suggest covering it with Apple Care? I slipped and hit my watch into a tile wall, shattering it the day after I got it.

I had been thinking about it awhile, but I also don’t fully feel I have my head wrapped around it, because it has to be compatible with all my med devices. For example, series 9 doesn’t appear on compatibility lists. And only the SE and 9 series appear on the Apple site (maybe if you dig, the others are there?). Then because I was going to Target, I didn’t think there’d be choices (there were in reality many possible choices, but girl wouldn’t know until she looked, big production). I just got the big black SE, LOL. That’s what was easy for the girl to get in the back. It was too much for my brain to figure out watch face size and color (color of what since the band can be changed? choices hard to see on website, what’s even in stock?). The big face was probably the right choice with all my apps, tho.

So last night I was walking the dog - half hour before sunset, getting dark and cold. Anyways, I decided I couldn’t live another day without an Apple watch. It’s an enormous pain to get out my gigantic phone to check my blood sugar, the time… and I also feel it’s embarrassing to be walking in nature looking at the phone. Haha. So I went to Target and bought a watch. Is that crazy?

I have a feeling I have the watch band on wrong, but also my wrists are super skinny. It’s loose on the last hole. Any suggestions for bands for smaller wrists?
