I remember having this problem with another pair of Rocket Dogs Kari. I think they are just not the best brand for me. I did have one really comfortable pair of flats by them, so I wouldn't write them off completely though. Those are cute but I also know your feet aren't as fussy as mine, and some of the reviews on Zappos seem to indicate they have the same issue.

Scarlet, if I did that, my heel would not stay in the shoe!

I'll probably have to give them away or sell them on ebay. I'm not willing to hobble around in pain until they soften up (which may never happen).

Maya, odd tip, but if you have any friends who spin, a little bit of wool roving under your heel can lift the irritated part of your heel above the problem spot until they soften up, but stays soft and cushiony under your foot. If you think there is no chance they will ever soften though, that's a bummer.

Maya, have you tried the Rocket Dog Memories flat instead? (DSW still carries them in a wide variety of sizes in their stores - they seem to be sold out online in many colors, though.)
They have little to no arch support, so you might need to add in inserts for much walking, but I've found them to be extremely soft, and they have a much rounder toe than the Capucines. I've made them my dedicated "airplane shoes" since they are easy to slip on and off and are comfortable even when my feet are swollen and sore.

Neither size really worked for me April. I ended up having to keep the 6's because I wore them and I had already returned a pair of worn shoes so I felt awkward doing it agan, but they are orphans. I expected the toe area would be painful since I don't usually do well in pointy toes, but surprisingly the heel is the troublesome area and it didn't get any better with wear. It's stiff and the material is not soft, so blisters are inevitable. It may or may not be a problem for you though. The reviews on Zappos seem to have the same experience:

Angie, you mentioned these aren't walking shoes for you. Where and how do you wear them then? On what occasion is a casual sitting shoe practical for you?

Maya, it sounds like you would not recommend the Capucines, correct? Just checking because I noticed them on the Delia's site (of all places) for 19.99. They have a half-size smaller than my usual size, but weren't these the shoes that stretched out on you? When you got the smaller size, did the heel work any better?

Hm, I guess I shouldn't have kept them then. If I'm going to get a pair of sitting shoes, I may as well get a pair of 3" heels. Oh well.

April, they might work just fine for you but for me the heel is way too stiff and rough and doesn't appear to be softening up. I guess it depends how sensitive your skin is.

Maya, my Capucines have been a comedy of errors. First, as you know, they arrived with black streaks down the side, and I sent them back for a replacement. In the meantime, my credit card company decided someone had stolen my card (not the case) and they automatically canceled it, which left Zappos with an invalid credit card number, so they didn't send me a new pair.

Then -- don't kill me -- I decided to hold off and see how you were doing with them before deciding whether I should replace them. I guess I have my answer...

I'm here. They do rub a little on the heel and I boiled that down to the ultra sensitive skin on my feet. But the style has not worried my clients so far. For me, these were never walking shoes, Maya. They do not do the distance.

I guess I can only wear VERY soft leather :0(

I ended up keeping these in a 6 since they were only $44 and I thought I could work with them, but I'm having doubts now. I am surprised to see that it is not the toe area that hurts, it's the heel! It is way too stiff and rough. I tried massaging it a bit and lined it with moleskin and it still chafes badly and I keep getting blisters. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? I don't think there is much else I can do to make them less ouchy.
