If you get it you should start out only using it with the extra soft brush, bought separately, and only once every other night, I'd say. See how that goes. I like to use mine once in a while when my skin just feels like it needs it. I probably have a bit of the flushing rosearea myself, and can't scrub it too much without it feeling sting-y. It does clean the foundation out well, but if you aren't putting stuff like that on your face you might not really need it?

Paula's Choice! (-; Check it out...

The mild exfoliation of the Clarisonic helps moisturizer penetrate and work better. Use a gentle cleanser, like Cetaphil. No scrubbing!

Interesting, Janet! It's true because I always feel grubby in the city. On the other hand, here I can literally FEEL the moisture being sucked out of my skin. It's -10F today and man, is it brutal.

Ah, Una, I think that makes a big difference. When I'm not wearing makeup I am much more lax about cleansing my face at night. Although that's usually when I'm traveling/camping. I realized some time ago that living in the congested urban industrial mid-Atlantic means my skin is much more bombarded by grime than it is when I'm out in the pristine Arctic air or the Rocky mountains.

Zap, you're not the only one - I've read poor reviews too. But scrubs tend to inflame my face, probably because I treat it like I'm scouring the sink. Nordie's customers rave about it, though!

I can't use any sort of brush. I found this out the hard way, when using a delicate brush I managed to take the skin off the lower orbital ridge of my eyes and cheekbones. The resulting red graze took a very long week to heal enough that it didn't look like I took a cheese grater to my face!

I much prefer AHA and the like.

you know? I re-read my comment and perhaps I went too strong, It seems the brush gets lots of love here. I am usually the anomaly that confirms the rule. Perhaps there are better brushes now. Dunno.

My combination skin is a little on the sensitive side, and prone to breakouts especially in the summer, and I have been using the Clarisonic every other night for a while now. My skin behaves much better in the cooler months, and i only started using the Clarisonic in September, so I'm not sure if any improvement in my skin is from this or not, but it has been pretty good lately.

I highly recommend trying to clean the makeup off your face every night if you can. That made a big difference in my skin years ago when I finally made it a habit. Now I can't imagine going to bed without cleaning and moisturizing my face (or brushing and flossing my teeth)!

The dryness and flakiness can be caused by the rosacea too. I have mild rosacea as well, the same kind broken vessels, redness, flushing. Yes, I'm blessed with a plethora of skin diseases. That's why I have dermS as in plural.

I am not a dermatologist, but no, I'm not liking the Clarisonic for you. Flushing prone skin is very sensitive to rubbing and harsh cleansing. I found a very good line of products, french, called Avene. They have a line exclusively designed for skin prone to redness and flushing called antirougeurs. I would look into it.

I love my Clarisonic!
I have dry, sensitive skin that used to get very flaky in the winter, and it looks much more healthy and glowing since using the Clarisonic. I have the small one- the Mia.

I use the "sensitive" brushes, and just use it about 3 times a week with Neutrogena Extra Gentle Cleanser. It doesn't seem the least bit harsh on my skin. I follow with a mild moisturizer, and find that I don't feel like I need foundation any more on a daily basis- just some concealer for under-eye circles.

They also have "delicate" brushes that are even milder than the "sensitive" ones, so if in doubt you could start with that.

Yikes, Zap - that sounds bad! My skin is dry/flaky and the rosacea is more capillary - looking hot and flushed - no acne at all. Maybe I need to steer clear for now and up my skin care regime in other areas.

The clarisonic was an utter disaster on me. It aggravated my cystic acne so badly that I finally caved in and went on accutane. My sephora rep was so friggin apologetic I thought she was going to break in tears. I would not touch the thing with a ten foot pole. My derms are all against it, the harsh exfoliation actually makes microscopic fissures in your skin, so if you have acne problems the bacteria goes rogue. If your rosacea is papular, tiny zits, I would not even try it.

They are great moisturizers out there. I don't think there is any anti-aging benefit on the brush but I could be wrong.

I would rather try a mild retinoid or an AHA or BHA exfoliant, if you are looking for exfoliation and skin turnover. Paula's choice makes a great AHA product, a mild exfoliant.

I have been using Clinique products since the 80's, especially for the eyes. Both of my kids use it also. I use the Dermanew. I got it about three years ago before I even heard of Clarsonic. I also use it in the shower, but I shower at night. In the morning I just started using DDFn brightening cleanser and I really like it.

I've never tried it, but my face is prone to redness and I find the less I rub it, the better. But I'm pretty sure Sally McGraw uses one and raves about it, and lord knows she complains about skin problems on a regular basis. So it must work for some people!

I have one and use it only every other evening. Too much scrubbing makes my dry skin break out. I use a BHA acid from Paula's choice as an exfoliator at night, and pile on the moisturizer morning and night! I have been cautious about exfoliating during winter on my dry skin, but I've found that using a heavy moisturizer helps.

I got a Clarisonic last Christmas and my skin has never been better. I use it every night. There are gentle brushes and cleansers, although you can use your own cleanser with it. My skin is very sensitive but I've had only good effects. I moisturize afterwards with a Morraccan tree oil that I get at Whole Foods. My skin also has adult acne tendencies and this clears up any sign of it quickly. I wish I'd had one as a teen.

I'm surprised to see someone with rosacea using this (and liking the results!). I have rosacea and cannot tolerate ANY scrubbing whatsoever. I use a face masque to deal with flakiness and lots of moisturizer. Try some basic skincare before you commit to this product...I had a total dope slap moment myself when I went from almost zero skincare routine to washing/moisturizing and using serums on a daily basis and saw such an improvement in my skin.

I am reading this with interest. My DD who is 16 asked for this for Christmas and when I went to the drug store (Shoppers for you Canucks) the sales lady there told me not to get it for her,

DD's intent was to fight acne but the clerk recommended something else (cleanser, toner moisturizer for teen skin)

I also have mild rosacea and a new cleanser aggravates it. Is this product for aging or acne? I always thought it was for breakouts

I use mine in the shower almost everyday (morning - night is wipes. I think I'm lazier at night than in the morning) I bought the sensitive skin replacement heads as I have had Rosacea in the past and have pretty sensitive skin. I've not had any issues with it and have continued using the Philosophy Purity Made Simple skin cleanser with it. I'm not sure it's changed my life, but my skin doesn't feel as dry as it used to (although I put every product I can on it)

Not negative at all! Very helpful, actually.

I do use an electric toothbrush. I actually think it's the lazy out! But I am so low maintenance it's ridiculous - could i handle the extra effort? And more importantly, is it worth it?

Love, love, love mine! It takes off so much grime, my skin feels soft and ready for moisturizer. It took about 4-6 weeks of using it for my skin to adapt and now I can't live without it. I use it every night. You should definitely try it!

ETA I find it cleans 100x better than a wash cloth and my skin feels great. I've been using very little makeup since using the clarisonic. I like how I look with just clean skin and moisturizer now.

Ah yes, exfoliation! I used to do a very mild at-home peel once or twice a week. That worked well for exfoliation. I think I quit because I started using self-tanner on my face and the instructions said not to combine the two. I should try it again.

Anyway, sorry I've been negative about this but it reminds me of the electric toothbrush I never use, preferring my old manual. I guess if you are used to an electric toothbrush this wouldn't be a stretch.
