I’m revisiting this topic, researching weighted blankets as the weather warms up here. I definitely sleep warm and I hate throwing off the covers and then feeling sort of exposed with just a thin sheet, even though the temp feels better.

I’ve looked at Luxome and Bearaby now, since so far it seems like those get the best ratings for staying cool. I’m thinking I’d start with the Tree Napper if I go with Bearaby, in the 15 lb weight. I’d just use it on my half of the bed since my husband and I have different sleep thermostats! I’m wondering if that will be big enough, but I don’t want too large and unwieldy. Any further advice?

Janet - they do make a throw that's cooler. I usually put a heavy fleece dog throw over my weighted blankets to keep them clean and prevent damage. But I like to sleep warm and very heavy! My throw is out for delivery, I'll update when it arrives.

I’d like to try a weighted blanket, but I worry about dog claws (Sunny is a cuddler and has brutal big claws) on that weave. I haven’t looked into other brands.

I also have to have it cool to sleep. If I get too warm, I start throwing off the blankets.

Wow that’s awesome about your sleep score. I do wear my Fitbit to bed. I’ve been trying to focus on more and better quality sleep. I still don’t get sleeping cool. If I’m not warm, esp my feet, I can’t sleep. That weighted blanket will be on top of comforters. I’d like the bigger blanket too but I’ll try this first. What weight did you get?

I will likely get the larger size at some point also…..my Fit Bit data shows improvement in my sleep score average since I started using the weighted blanket…..

I received the cotton mapper 20lbs as a holiday gift. I really like it although if I could redo I might buy the queen size instead. If it spills over the foot of my bed it often pulls the rest of the way down due to its weight and narrowness. I haven’t tried to wash mine yet. The packaging was eco friendly…a nice reusable sack and cloth ties. The blanket seems to keep me just warm enough and no more overheating at night! I’m super happy about that, plus it’s very cozy…..

I don't have the velvet (though I was admiring it; they're beautiful! The colors! The sheen!), but I received the cotton Bearaby (15 lbs) as a Christmas present and I love it. The velvet looks more glam, but requires dry cleaning; the cotton and tree napper can be machine washed. Looking forward to your report!

Hi all-
I know we had a conversation and people were interested in the bearaby weighted throw. I had no idea but there is an eco friendly velvet throw (made entirely out of plastic bottles). It seems this throw is only produced once a year and the colors are unique to that year. It also seems it sells out relatively quickly. I ordered the velvet sapphire throw but it has not arrived yet. But it anyone wants a velvet throw they are limited edition. Thought I'd mention and will report back after it arrives.
https://bearaby.com/products/velvet-napperhttps://www.apartmenttherapy.c.....w-37012945

Review: So my Bearaby velvet sapphire 15 lb throw arrived last night. I was concerned the color would be too green, bordering on a real teal but it's sapphire but on the warmer end. My first impression is it's small. The 20 & 25 lb, which would have given 4" or 8" more width (the weight is in the fabric) were out of stock and from what I read they will not be restocked until next year. I would not recommend this size for lounging and would definitely pick the heavier/bigger throws. The hand is plush but not exactly velvety. It's very pleasant and soft but not as splushy as I expected from reviews. As you can see the material is braided which makes it quite cool. I do prefer warmth, so if you run hot, this is the throw for your or the cotton or tencel if you want even cooler. It would probably be better in the bigger size and more collapse to the fabric. Also the edges curl making it even a bit smaller. For my purposes being layered sandwiched between many layers of blankets and throws it's nice. Weight is great. Very comfortable. But if I was looking for a stand alone throw to wrap up with I'd choose biggest size or the queen/king size because there is just not enough of it if you like to really wrap up. Because it's so heavy you really need more width because it's less malleable. It's nice but watch the sizing and really think about how you would use it before making a selection.
