Oooh, can I get in on this, too? (In a separate thread, of course!) I have a huge stash, and it's overwhelming to me. Part of my paralysis now is figuring out whether a fabric or pattern is still stylish! Can I post some things in the "Everything Else" section for help?

I sew too! What you make will definitely depend on the fabric, are you willing to post pictures and descriptions of it?

I can't sew, but I love learning about sewing techniques and understanding more about fabric qualities -- especially now that I've had some custom pieces made up (and have a few more on the way for fall, yea).

I rationalize that my not-sewing keeps my money going toward the clothes and not the fabric stash, ha.

Anyway, in addition to all the great YLF sewing resources (aka MEMBERS) you may want to check out a few of the sewing blogs I like (most are hooked into Pattern Review).

Each blog links to others, so you can probably zero in sewists that share your style sensibilities/lifestyle.

Here are a couple:

Erica is heavily influenced by runway looks and turns out tons of chic skirts and dresses:
http://www.ericabunker.com/

Dawn lives in Alaska and creates lots of stylish casual/smart casual stuff (she took most of the summer off but has a million items in her archives):
http://twoontwooff.blogspot.com/

The Slapdash Sewist does tons of sweet little dresses and tops -- many are great for more casual workplaces or MOTG days:
http://theslapdashsewist.blogspot.com/

The Selfish Seamstress always reviews Burda etc; she tends to make a lot of more tailored pieces but also has a love of vintage dress silhouettes:
http://selfishseamstress.wordpress.com/

Carolyn usually makes tailored (plus-size) work clothes, but she's got SUCH a great eye for colors/patterns/trims you may find inspiration even if your need is for more casual clothing:
http://sewingfantaticdiary.blogspot.com/

Hi Crystal, I sew also and would be happy to help if I can. You might look at some of the "Easy" pattern lines like Very Easy Vogue to get started. There's a website called Pattern Review that's helpful in picking good patterns. I'm sure your mom will be a great resource also.

Hmmm--- I sew too! I think you should post pictures of the fabric and list the yardage you have if you want ideas. Some things just lend themselves beautifully to certain garments, and some patterns from 10 years ago might "date." We also might be able to give you pattern recommendations. If you already have some patterns, maybe you could post or link them too.

I think there are several other ylfers that sew, so I would go ahead and post those pics.

There are several people on here who sew (me included). I love dreaming up what to make (you should see my "to do" list - sheesh, if I ever get it all done, it'll be a miracle and yet I keep adding more!). Post those pictures!!!!

I've recently found a ton of fabric that I bought over 10 years ago and I'm still loving it all. I'm hoping to make some clothes, bags, belts and scarves out of it, but I have no idea what. Before I post all the pictures, I wanted to find out if there is anyone here who sews and can give me an idea of what to make? My mom is a pretty good seamstress and I'm hoping to take a class to brush up, but I'm needing some stylish opinions on what to make.
