I don't live anywhere near any snow, so can't vouch for how it will perform in those conditions, but it works well for me as winter outerwear as well as in and out of a cold warehouse at work. Would definately be warmer than a cotton trench. If I didn't already own a fabulous Versace woollen coat I would buy the Icebreaker one you've bought in a heartbeat.</p> <p>Their gear is always the first thing I pack when travelling - it packs really, really well and is warm and stylish to wear. I wear their long sleeve crew necks and henleys under everything during winter. They layer really well. It's true - there's no odor and you just throw them in the washing machine. Are they worth it? Is the performance all it claims, or is it over-glorified?&nbsp;</p> <p>I ordered the peacoat below on Black Friday after ogling it for about a year.&nbsp;As I often lament, I have a terrible time with non-breathable linings, and this one says it's breathable and won't overheat you and is windproof and odor resistant and on and on...&nbsp;</p> <p>I will post fit/flattery pics in the morning when we have light here, but if we're just talking function... I love how lightweight it is compared to my other wool coat, and I've already seen it travels superbly (arrived in the tiniest box and unpacked without a wrinkle), but it's hard to believe that something this light packs a punch in true cold. Sitting here with it on,&nbsp;I can't tell if it's Not Particularly Warm or if it's Doing Its Job By Not Overheating Me. </p> <p>This would be worn to visit my dad in snowy weather around late February, then for future travel. Would it keep me warmer than a cotton trench? </p>
