I've had a cream leather (goat skin) jacket from K-Mart of all places for 6 years now. I wear it almost daily for 4 months of the year. I do see some makeup rub off on the collar and the sleeves tend to get a little dingy but I use those leather furniture cleaning wipes and it comes right off! No problems with dye rubbing off from denim (I wear mostly Gap denim). I've also read that saddle soap is good for cleaning leather but I have no personal experience. I hope that helps, good luck!
My white jacket is faux, but I've had no issues with it. My tan leather jacket has not had color transfer from my bags yet... I spray all my boots and leather jackets with protectant before wear just cuz I'm a clutz with food and drinks and such.

Elle, I have tan colored suede shoes, and they definitely have stains from the inside of my jeans. Granted I've had them for like 5 years now.

Yes, I was in the snow, and was worried that I might get water spots on the jacket or something like that. No water spots. I don't know if I was just lucky or what, but I didn't have a problem. At times, it was almost blizzard-like... blowing snow, and I could see the water droplets/spots as they landed on my jacket (I thought for sure I was going to ruin my new jacket), but they just disappeared (dried I guess).

Just for the record, we're talking dashing from car rental place to shuttle, dashing from hotel parking lot to hotel room, from hotel lobby to car, from car to restaurant etc. Not like I was hanging out in the blizzard or anything.

Freak snowstorm - and I didn't have an umbrella. Snow got on my
jacket...but I did not have any issues. Well, other than barely making
it to the airport on the way back and then finding out our flight was
cancelled, and then not cancelled after all and having to run to get through security and to gate area.

Meanwhile, the jeans weren't the kind that they warn you about (in terms of indigo dye) though. I was wearing Kut from the Kloth Diana dark blue skinnies, GAP Real Straight jeans, and GAP Really Skinny black pants during the weekend. The jeans had been washed many times previously. Not much chance of dye-transfer with these well worn and washed jeans.

I am not recommending going out in a snowstorm in a new light-coloured leather jacket - but I did get caught in such a situation and it wasn't a problem.

I almost didn't make it to the airport on the way back, tons of flights cancelled, very dicey driving between Boulder and DIA (Denver airport) - thought for sure we wouldn't make it.

Uh...the jacket is fine! Me? I'm still de-compressing from the the drive to DIA from Boulder that day. I might be a bit of a wuss, but I can still feel my feet slamming the brakes on the floor of the passenger seat - especially when an SUV way ahead of us just whirled around and was headed straight for our cheesy rental car. Lucky for us, said SUV ended up in the median (unharmed and safe).

My nice new jacket that Angie found at the Rack? Just fine. Just as pretty as it was when I bought it, despite the goings-on.

(sorry for the novel, it was a fun story to tell).

I would spray it with protectant. I'd try to avoid carrying a bag that might stain.

Angie's had her white jacket for years without issue.

I wore my white leather jacket on the weekend and carried a red pleather bag. When I got home I noticed a hint of pink on the shoulder of my jacket. Oh noes!!!

But I simply dampened a washcloth very lightly and wiped it and the pink disappeared. Mine is washed leather also, and I had sprayed it. Needless to say I won't use that bag again, however.

I bought the MK jacket in the sand colour - wore for a quick weekend getaway to Boulder, and there was a snowstorm! Wore with jeans, GAP Really Skinny pants etc. No problem with water spots or stains, but then - I've only had the jacket for about two weeks, and have not worn it with brand-new or unwashed dark jeans.

I think if I was worried about jeans, I'd wash them with a vinegar rinse first...and then I'd also sort of test to see that the jeans didn't rub off onto something I wasn't so concerned about, such as a white washcloth, before wearing with my new 'sand' MK jacket.

Only two weeks' experience here, and have not worn the jacket every day or anything - just maybe five times? Have not had a problem with stains so far though.
Nicole I have suede taupe booties. Do you think the lighter inside of jeans stains? I know at the hem the dark side is hemmed under so if I were to roll that do you think it would prevent staining on the booties?

The only problem I ever had was with jeans (on some pale taupe suede boots). So your plan to avoid indigo is a good one. There must be some remedies out there if you do get a mark.

I am trying to decide whether to K/R one or both of these jackets http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....te-or-sand

One thing that worries me is staining. The leather is washed which makes it velvety soft but also more porous than a shiny leather. I'm careful but things still get dirty. Indigo from jeans is impossible so I will try to avoid wearing with blue jeans. I will have to use light coloured purses or satchels. I got staining from my black shoulder bag on my white denim jacket but that is washable.

Has anyone worn their light leather jacket enough yet to see any staining issues?

What about from your neck. I shower daily but I've never owned a light leather jacket so I'm not sure. My fabric clothes get laundered regularly so I've never noticed neck stains before.
