I tried this dress last season at the outlet store. I'm a fan of EF, and found this item Quite oversized even for EF. Heavier weight heathered textured linen with a dark chambray look, really beautiful. Challenges: very straight cut. Sizing down to get a reasonable fit on shoulders and bust, too slim over hips and thighs. I am a rectangle with pear tendencies; ymmv. Ended up getting the tunic version and found on wear that even though it is twice as wide around as I am, the lap creases drove me nuts. It is soft, and heavy for linen, but the tunic version at least creased like mad right across crotch-upper thighs.

The fabric is on the softer side but does have structure. It is longer in the back which is nice when belted. Hope this helps!

Shannon I think yes it does fit your style direction. I had to ask the same question of my white dress. It's maybe not a 100% fit but certainly has elements that fit. And I don't see that as a bad thing because every now and again I still enjoy wearing something that is a little different for me but still ties in with my style persona by way of styling.

Yes, I think this is consistent with your style directions because it does have structure, yet softness and comfortable ease. I love this dress and I bet you will enjoy wearing it.

Shannon, I have not seen that dress in person but saw it online and lusted. However, it is too short for me unless worn as a tunic.
I have several pieces of EF linen. Although I avoided linen for years because of the creasing, I found EF linen to be heavier but soft. With washing it becomes textured evenly so that it doesn't get the big creases, if that makes sense.
This dress seems to fit your goals. As an EF piece it will have simple lines in a lux fabric. The shaping gives it more structure than most dresses of this style. I can't wait to see it and hope it works for you.

Nebraskim - yes, it's a linen blend dress and like you , I actually like the creases of linen. There's something "relaxing" about it. And strong shoulders are good for as I have narrow and sloping shoulders.

Deborah - I think because of the fabric blend it's probably soft - but can't tell for sure without feeling it.

Lisa - you're doing a good selling job on this dress! I think I'd wear it both with and without a belt. And isn't spring making you kinda fashion crazy? I know it is for me!

jP - thank for chiming in! I appreciate the tip to size up. May I ask about the fabric - is it soft or a bit more crisp?

One more question to any/all - does this fit my style direction???

I quite like it - it's very pretty and versatile looking. I love a shirtdress - and have many as it's a good guaranteed dress look for me. Do you wear them much for work? I can see your leather jackets, blazers and faux leather cognac jacket over this . Wear it with leggings (footless Calvins ) right now, and mesh micros later (or barelegged on the weekend). It would work well with your Birks, your Docs, your maryjanes, etc. You'd probably want to belt it, no?

As for hogging the forum - ha! Me too - I was thinking all of a sudden I'm full of ideas and thoughts, and pictures:) I love your posts

Shannon I like this:). I actually just bought something very similar in tencel (mine is white and sleeveless). So I would say if the fabric is nice and soft and a good weight, then it could work very nicely for you - not sure how RO explain but I think the fabric needs to have flow. If the fabric is too crisp, like a cotton shirt, then you might feel it could add bulk. If it's returnable, I think it's worth a try.

I've not seen this IRL but I like how there are princess seams on the back that nip this in so it's not one big flowy billowy dress but has a bit more fit and structure. It appears to have some linen content and not a super tight weave, so that may indicate it will wrinkle. Is that OK with you? I love that linen does rumple and wrinkle, but if you want all-day crispness and don't like ironing, this may not be the dress for you. It also has strong shoulders. Do those work for you? I love the color and overall vibe of this. I have a couple of denim shirt dresses and quite like wearing them over leggings.

I've been toying with the idea of a shirt dress for spring/summer but want one with a bit more substantial fabrice - nothing too "floaty". Would also like something that would work with tights and booties in cooler weather but with sandals and bare legs in hotter weather.

I love this Eileen Fisher chambray blend shirt dress - it has sleeves that can be full length or rolled with tabs, has a bit of structure too it and could work for both weekends and work.

Has anyone seen it IRL (it's from last year)?

Not sure this shape would work on an apple - thoughts?

Sorry to be such a forum hog the last few days - the changes in season always gets my fashion juices flowing!
