Hi Peri,

I think you should definitely try a Nordstrom stylist. I'm an image consultant and love shopping and I still think they're great. My time is limited for shopping for myself. Plus, they know the merchandise so well, have seen things on, tried them on, etc. And you get to use the princess dressing rooms!

Be forewarned that she'll put more than black pants in your room. but hey, we all have jobs, right?

I haven't, but am glad you asked! I'd like to get a nice suit, and was considering finding a Nordstrom personal stylist to help me find just the right one.

Looking forward to hearing more responses on this thread.

That is exactly how I used my Nordstrom stylist!

When I was building my wardrobe last year, I had specific items in mind, such as a pair of black pants, a denim jacket, bootcut jeans. I sent specific links to items over email to my stylist, and she had a selection ready and waiting for me at our appt. This was great for me as a working mom, too! Totally saved me a ton of time browsing, and she also showed me other items that I would probably never have picked up. That is how I ended up with a pair of black ponte pants and the perfect pair of gray trousers. :-)

Totally worth it, especially during a building phase. Good luck and have fun!

That is definitely in the realm of things we do, Peri! If there is a pant offered in the store that works, the stylist can dig it up for you. If you still strike out, which you might if your store has limited stock, they can at least figure out your size in a brand that fits well and maybe order more options for you to try on in store. Don't forget that full-priced items get simple alterations for free and that you also get $100 in free alterations a year with a Nordies card... pants are really tough to fit off the rack!

When you describe the pants, also mention fit issues that you usually have with pants. Hope that helps!

Once I had a beautiful ornate skirt with some very tricky colors. I went to the personal shopper and she scoured the store for tops. I bought two. Except I never wore it. Finally gave the skirt to Jenava. It fits her style much better.

I've said before that my Nordstrom seems sub-par. It's small and seems kind of light on clothes too. But I'm curious about the stylist service I read about on the website.

My fantasy is that I could describe the perfect black pants I'm looking for and they would gather all the available options for me to try on...and I could avoid hunting all over the store. And maybe if I scored, I could avoid hunting all over the mall.

Does it work that way? Is that too narrow a request?
