Sal, your wardrobe is so inspiring and lovely! I have been wondering about experimenting with trousers/pants more this year, though denim tends to be a staple for me. Will be curious how it's going for you! I especially love your red-pink trousers--they're amazing! Also, we will be twinsies this fall with satin slip skirts and suede knee-high boots :D

Suz, I am eager to see what you figure out with your spring/summer style!! I bet it will be smashing as always. I have really adored seeing wardrobes of our SH Fabbers too. I feel very inspired and excited!

Janet, I likely won't do a lot of serious planning until later in the summer myself. However, I do want to knit some items and have them ready for colder weather. And that means... planning and knitting in summer. So, thus, my early thinking process :} Your Carmen de Santiago experience sounds so beautiful and epic! When do you leave for it? And your travels to Japan and Asia sound really wonderful! Have all the fun now while you can. I know traveling capsules can make me feel limited.

I won’t be thinking of that until mid to late summer — here I am still sorting out my spring/summer strategies! Even then I suspect I’ll be shopping my closet a lot since I’ll be traveling for two months this fall and will be taking mostly hiking gear (walking the Camino de Santiago). And next winter I’ll be ignoring spring shopping since we are planning another long trip to Japan and some other Asian destinations. So I think I’m having a bit of wardrobe fun now until I’m limited by travel capsules.

Oh, wow, what a great thread! I'm still figuring out my spring/ summer style now but I adore seeing the photos from our southern hemisphere Fabbers! I love every single item in all your Finds, Bijou, Brookly, Sal!

And i hope we will see as much burgundy up our way next fall, Brooklyn!

I am still planning my autumn and winter style. I am being a bit bolder in my choices. I am also conscious I am missing a month of winter so don't want to add too many pieces. I think a neutral knit top and some new shoes will be the end of my shopping for this season.

I am experimenting with more trousers than jeans this year. Lots of mixing and matching.

Unlike Jenni I quite like April May and early June but struggle in July and August.

Oh Carol!! I JUST ADORE your direction for this fall!! I say go for it! It's hugely on trend to boot. Not that it matters in Fabber world so much because we do our own trends . Just sometimes it's easier when what we love and like aligns with retail trends. I’m super glad you enjoyed the Pinterest exercise <3 .

I do plan to combine the three inspos somehow. Not sure how it will work in actual outfits. So we will see. But I'm excited about them.

So, I do live in CO! It's lovely to meet a real native. I can't claim native as I wasn't born here, but I grew up visiting family all the time here, then living here for 20 years. I sometimes love the snow. This year though, I've felt very over winter for some reason. Definitely ready for summer this year!

Wow! Those three inspos--so intriguing. I feel like you could almost start a fall trend just by combining those.

Snow? What area of the country or world do you live in? Or are we not sharing that here? I grew up in Colorado, where snow goes through May, and I dearly miss it.

I'm not thinking of fall at all--I tend to wear most of my clothes all year long, because of Mediterranean temperatures. But I did recently enjoy the Pinterest exercise that you and others recommended. The first thing that comes to mind IF I plan for fall is going in a vintage rock and roll direction--flare jeans/cords/velvet pants, shiny Chelsea boots, fitted tees...and maybe then I could finally get the white "fur" coat from Anthropologie I've been eyeing for a couple of years! (I probably will not organize this whole look, but maybe it's not that hard.)

Robin, my in-laws live in Michigan! And yes, they too have had an unseasonably chilly spring. We have had alternating cold and warm weather here. One week I'm in all summer clothing, next week it's sweaters and socks. It's starting to irritate me ha!

Cat2, I am keeping tabs on gaps too. Can't wait to see what you find for olive pants and layering sweaters :)

Cookie, we have short summers where I live too. That said, I luxuriate in all the summer clothes because our cold season and winters are long. I could probably have gotten by with at least half of what I bought for this summer but I also love having variety and new things. So, a-shopping I did go, haha! I used to be very in the moment for most of my adult life, but that has changed this year -- to my great surprise!

Bijou, I so feel you!! We used to live in the tropics. At the time I missed seasons so much, especially autumn. As I age, I find myself wanting to skip winter. *GASPING at your leopard outfit and velvet coat* OH MY LANDS! It's utterly gorgeous!! I can't wait to see you in it! (Or maybe you've already posted and I missed it... ?) I also really love your other items. I'm hoping to find and incorporate some tartan and more florals this autumn/winter.

Jenni, we just came out the other side of the dark winter time! While it's opposite for us, I do know how dark it can get. Hopefully your lovely new false plain pants carry you jubilantly to brighter days :D

Brooklyn, I want to steal both Bijou's and your wardrobes I really love your autumn wardrobe. All of the burgundy/oxblood is moody and dramatic -- stunning, really! Endless summer is starting to sound good to me lately. I lived in the tropics 10 years ago and really missed seasons. But lately, I am not loving winter like I used. Maybe a new style and new winter clothes will help with that...

Super interesting to see when you all plan for fall!! Thank you for sharing.

Lisa and Angie, I've never really taken part of NAS. Maybe this year I will!

Carla, oh yay for your garden!! I admit, this is one of the first years in some time I"ve been excited for summer. Can't say if it's all my new clothes or what it is. My area has a mix of warm and sunshine and cold and snow through May and even June. And yet... my garden and fruit trees area have all started budding and leafing about 2-4 weeks early. Will be an interesting month or two to see what happens. (Late huge snow dumps are always a possibility.)

Jaime, I've definitely been watching a little of the fall runway for ideas. My favorite so far has been Chloe A/W 2025, though I haven't deep dived into other labels and designers yet. Chloe has always been boho, but this year they feel especially boho and very 70s.

Sloper, I'm hoping for a trickle-down effect too! I know Boho is huge this year. My feeling is that it will be gigantic for autumn/winter this year.

Yeah I’m also on the “What, I haven’t had a chance to start wearing spring clothes yet” bench. Also, I live in the moment and don’t plan that much. I do try not to buy too many summer-only things because summer is short here (as much as it can be hot and gross).

I’ve been preparing for a while now. There’s been an avalanche of burgundy edits here and I’ve stocked up. I probably need to slow down now. Cos I’m ready! Definitely leaning into the moody side of my modern moody bohemian moniker. Warm, edgy, dark romantic.

I will start thinking seriously about summer again in July. But, as I live in the land of endless summer, it’s never far from my mind

Definitely autumn here in Auckland, New Zealand. Autumn officially starts 1 March but it doesn’t get much cooler until late March. Sadly about 10 days ago was the end of Daylight Saving and so now it is darker earlier, and will be for over 2 months until we get to the winter solstice on I think 21 June Not a 2 months I enjoy. I start to feel happier again after 21 June with a gradual lightening of the days.
I was very happy to find my new false plain pants in March, all ready for the new season. They might mostly replace my “biker” (horizontal pleats across the knees) ponte pants from 2020 which did sterling service for granddaughter care when she was little. Those have had 260 wears! Now that she will be 4 in July I don’t need quite such sturdy casual pants. She likes imaginary games and dress-ups more now rather than crawling around the place!

Yes, because I'm in the Southern Hemisphere!

I imagine I have almost the opposite problem to you. Summer (and high Summer at that) is my dominant season. Whenever there is even the sniff of colder temps, I am so ready to throw on coats, scarves, boots and hats because I am so over Summer, but the reality is - I don't need too much.

The inspiration for my Fall/Winter update was my favourite summer outfit - the leopard print skirt and top, as soon as I saw the long velvet coat I wanted it to get more wear from the leopard skirt and top. The shearling loafers are from a local boutique and are as comfy as slippers and a fun everyday winter shoe. The printed dress is cotton, an easy item to wear throughout the year, sandals in Spring, boots and loafers in Fall/Winter and works well with a denim jacket or the velvet coat. The scarf and bag are souvenirs from a trip to Japan in January and fit seamlessly into my wardrobe. Not shown is a pair of wide-leg dark denim jeans, which are lightweight and are already a wardrobe workhorse.

All of the items I have bought have not been planned, being items I found from local retail (or on holiday). When I bought them, I thought about how they would work in my wardrobe and whether they would make me feel fab when wearing them.

Absolutely not! When I dream of outfits, I dream of wearing my shorts and sleeveless tops! Mostly I’m dreaming of my garden - which is just waking up.

I'm not heavily focusing on autumn/winter yet. I only have two items on my list so far:

Olive green pants-to replace a pair that were retired at the end of last season

Lilac top for fuchsia blazer-not sure this is a fall item, but it's the only other item on my shopping list after my recent WIW post with a graphic tee and my fuchsia blazer

I won't really start thinking about autumn/winter until closer to NAS. I use NAS as the time to start my autumn/winter shopping. We have a long summer season, so my focus will be on hot weather clothing for a while.

I am so satisfied with how my spring/summer wardrobe turned out, that I'm curious to see if and how my autumn/winter wardrobe will turn out for next year.

This year I used a mix of Pinterest and intuition to put together my S/S 2025 closet. It was surprisingly wonderful! This is the first time I've done such a thing. It allowed me to:

make more conscious purchases

assess and plan better for wardrobe "holes"

shop sales and resale sites

budget better

try new styles and ideas

--all while wearing clothing styles I've loved or eyed for the last couple years. With the exception of a couple items (ruffled skirt, I'm pining for you), I got almost everything on my list. Still had some flops but relatively small compared to my wins. Waiting to see what and how much of my wardrobe will be worn this summer.

So... can this work again for my autumn/winter wardrobe? I am a bit nervous or hesitant to trust this process will work twice. But I'm also curious to try again. I'm not quite in the mood for autumn/winter clothing, especially after waking up to 3-5 inches of snow this morning. And yet, I have been slowly exploring my needs and wants for next autumn/winter. I'm rather excited! Will hopefully post more about it down the road. (Feels too early to be talking about it in detail? :} ) It involves a lot of 1970s, Outlander, and modern luxe trends. Could be very interesting or it could be a mess. TBD.

Anyone else exploring autumn/winter 2025 already? I know some of our fellow Fabbers in the Southern Hempishere are probably entering their autumn season.
