I work for a small company. Sheisthe owner so she can do what she wants.
I am going to get a few things and enjoy them no matter what fall and winter looks like.
Life is different now and we need to enjoy the things that make us happy.

Debbie, I'm glad to hear your daughter is on the mend and that no one else in the house caught it.

Regarding your boss, can I just say that "nice" people do not enjoy making other people uncomfortable. As a manager myself, I find her comment to be very inappropriate and agree that you should consider documenting these moments of discomfort that she inflicts (assuming you work for a larger organization that might care about these things). One of my staff, working from home, is now sporting a Grizzly Adams-style beard. Just between us, I don't find it very professional. However, there is nothing in our dress code about facial hair and his beard in no way affects his ability to get his work done, so this is, truly, none of my business. My commenting on it would be rude and inappropriate.

Hang in there, these are difficult times.

Your hair is not too long, and it isn't your boss' business unless it's a safety violation anyway :/ Glad your daughter is feeling better!
I'm not feeling NAS much either. I found a couple things I may get, but a lot is up in the air right now. Last year I didn't buy anything at NAS at all, because it was so chaotic, with orders cancelled and such. We'll see.

I don't have any helpful suggestions, but Angie and others do so I'll leave that to them. I'm just here to commiserate, since all I can really think of that I need to buy is new bras (with no wires), and even that has been overwhelming because of how surreal life is right now

Debbie, I am sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope she recovers fully and that everyone else remains healthy.

Is your boss really a woman?!?! Her words sound so hurtful, insulting and inappropriate! In my opinion (which obviously means nothing here) hair length only becomes important where there is a safety risk. If needed, long hair can be pinned up and contained in a hairnet for safety so it’s not even a true concern most of the time. Additionally, it’s hard to get good haircuts now since stylists cannot dry hair, and they move slower with the need to clean and sanitize between every customer; certain people should avoid taking that risk altogether. How awful!

I like adding the red, blue and animal print to complement the black in your wardrobe.

Sooooo, I'm thinking that you can build a work capsule of items in this colour palette:

Black, white, red, blue, animal print.

All work well with black - which you have to wear to work - and will break up the monotony.

Debbie- Relieved to hear that your daughter is doing well; big familial stress.

Your post resonates. NAS, with a concentrated effort to assess fashion needs and wishes for upcoming seasons should come with a crystal ball in the catalogue. So many questions! I have about 6% of my usual interest in the sale this year. Thinking I am unlikely to be any less distanced and remote through fall/winter than I am now; keeping an eye on comfort and clear gaps in needed basics or essentials a la Covid. It is not much. I’d focus on shoes as they are both fashion and health. The animal print is a nice accent for you. Like the blazers in either blue or red.

Totally befuddled about the hair comment; can’t reconcile nice with enjoying making others uncomfortable.

I was hoping to answer this earlier but after work I ended up doing things for my daughter.

I am working on my lists and will report back on that.

1. As long as I look professional and there is an element of black she isn’t saying anything. I have worn red dresses and tops and stripes and navy quite a bit this summer.

2. I am shifting to blue. I know the red would look great with the animal print.

3. I love the animal print and it works casually and for the office

4. This summer I have worn a variety of sandals and black slip on sneakers that need to be replaced and these animal print sneakers.

Windchime she was not kidding. She lis a nice person but she likes to make people uncomfortable.

It doesn't sound like you have the bandwidth right now to fight it, so just document it and other similar comments. In the meantime, you might want to wear your hair up, or pulled back, at work. If you have some flyaways, use serum to smooth them down.

Best of luck to you and your family dealing with this disease!

That is a strange remark to make about your hair. How does she wear hers? I am sure that you always look professional at work. I am thankful that you did not get Covid-19 from your daughter.
We have been staying home to be safe.
Nothing seems worth dying for or spending the rest of my life seriously impaired like dialysis or major brain fog or a stroke.
Yes, I am overwhelmed by NAS, and there is little that I need and that is very specific like a dark navy long cardigan, wool pants with an elastic waist, underwear

Sorry I posted and ran. My house got busy for bit.
My oldest daughter came down with Covid a couple of weeks ago. She is doing fine and the rest of us have not gotten it. We are blessed. There was some dropping things off at her door for a while and probably still will be until she is retested in 2 weeks.

The biggest things I need are shoes and a jacket. I will do my homework and get back to you on that. I definitely need a plan. One thing on the do not buy list will be black clothing. I have enough. I do wear a lot of black to work but my boss is pretty much letting me do my own thing so long as I look professional. She did tell me today that my hair is too long! I am not sure what that has to do with anything.

These are somethings I am looking at. I like the blue jacket but I think I want the red.

Angie you do not know how much this means to me!

Sweet, Debbie. How can I help you? (Hope you and the family are staying safe and strong).

Start by assessing your NEEDS, CLIMATE and your LIFESTYLE for the next 6 to 8 months (as uncertain as life is!). Have a quick look at your goals - if you set them - and keep all of this information top of mind.

Figure out wardrobe gaps, necessary duplications, and what type of looks make you happy. Remember what you have, so that you aren't buying UN-necessary duplicates.

Next. Think of what YOU DO NOT NEED. A "not allowed to buy" list.

Write it down, and report back here! Let's take it one step at a time.

Is it just me or is anyone else overwhelmed with NAS. I have a few things I want but the more I see the more overwhelmed I become. I think it is because life right now is not the life we’re use to. We are not doing as much so the question becomes how much do I need versus how much I want. My wardrobe is sparse so I have some room to play with but I am not sure what categories to this with.

I may be totally overthinking this.

Laura’s Home goods idea is starting to sound wonderful.
